Distance-Convergence Variable
I'd like to be able to change just how far away my shots on ships with spread ports (i.e. vulture, wraith, moth, prom, rag, maud, valk) converge on the horizon. The autoaim takes care of this naturally, having them converge at some point...I'd like to be able to mark that distance with autoaim off, instead of everything going of parallel, so you could have them cross at 250 m to maximize unaimed damage at that range, or set them to parallel to maximize spread. There'd have to be a minimum distance, to prevent people from getting extra spread by setting the range to say 2m...
interesting...
X-Wing had something like this... I think it was called "Harmonization"... You could set the focal point of your weapons to be 1km, .5 km, .25 km or do "Auto Harmonization" which was effectively what autoaim does now.
It might also be nice to set it so that your shots would converge at the distance your target is at, but you could still use manual aiming to actually hit your opponent, so as he moves further and closer, the convergence would change accordingly, but you still wouldn't have autoaim.

Harmonization of guns has been around since WWI on Olde Earth; hadn't though of it in a long time, though, and setting it would be good, helping you calibrate the guns to shoot from afar or up close, I LIKE this idea!

hmm, definately a good idea, but how should it be changed Personaly i's like it to be an option in the weapon groups tab. perhaps even allowing the same weapon to have moltiple convergences depending on whic group fired it.
This would be neato. Could we also spread them out more? For example, could we have an alternating effect that would make the first 2 shots from a 2-S-Port ship go off at 5-degrees off-center, and then converge in? Say, it would go in 0.5-degree increments from outside to the convergence point? That would make a nice effect.
If the command for 'harmonization' is implemented, you could do so yourself, by using the 'wait' command. Maybe not the sleekest approach, but it should work.
