Channel 100 visible on the site
What you think? Be able to login to vendetta-online.com and see the chat that is going on in-game.
Maybe even read-only... I think i'd be cool.

Maybe not.
There's, at times, too much inanities on 100 to warrant public display on a web site that serves as an information point to possible new subscribers.
Perhaps available only if you have a registered account, but even that wouldn't be too much of a useful thing: chat via HTTP.
The IRC link is no longer functional but IRC sucks anyhow.
I'd ratter see a AIM/Jabber link.

I meant for registered players.
HTTP chat isn't realy that bad.

"I'd ratter see a AIM/Jabber link."
IRC is to suck as intelligent is to people who need a GUI to send text messages.
But as far as the topic, mgl_mouser is correct. Channel 100 is full of crap a significant enough portion of the time to merit vetoing the idea. Plus, the tools needed to do something of that nature would require more than just HTML, and JavaScript.

OT:
You can't expect regular-Joe from having to use a command line chat system.
Computer elitism doesn't have a role or place on home user's machines, wich will eventually be the bulk of VO's customer base (if it isn't already).
I'm a senior Mac software developer for Oracle (real GUI apps). Been doing this for 14+ years. And I still hate having to deal with command lines. As most computer users. (But I do use it when there's no other/simpler means).
/OT
IRC, as a protocol, sucks. There are GUI-based IRC clients out there but their lack of features make them bland. No presence, no fixed ID (anyone can impersonate anyone, basically), absence of voice support, less even video, contact icons.
That's why things like AIM or Jabber (with video on its way) provide a better platform.
IRC would still be better than HTML-based chat, still.

Actually, slashnet has an ident system, so once you register a name, only you (and those who steal your password) can use your nick.
Although that doesn't necessarily prevent people from choosing names similar to yours (for instance, is there an "mgl_mauser," or an "mgi_mouser," etc.), but then again, neither does AIM nor even Vendetta, and it's just one of those things that you just have to grit your teeth and move on from.
