agt is the problem, not the prom
well here's how i see it.
any ship with a large port is overpowering when it has an agt on it. so it would follow that it is the agt rather than the prom that is too good.
well?

There is only one ship that is "overpowering" when using AGT: the Prom. So it would follow that the Prom rather than the AGT that is too good.
Light ships are dominating pvp (due to the abscence of proms in B8). Med/Heavy ships NEED the GT.
Start nerfing non-light ships when light ships aren't on top.

You anti Nerf Red Ass. phreak!!!
It's not the AGT the problem! It's the red necks behind the AGT!

The Prom should have increased mass. That would be the best solution.

Maybe if we enlarged the prom's size..... o_O
it would still move as fast Kix... and turn as fast... and that's what people complain about... how it can position itself so well... not that it can't be hit.
I'm getting tired of arguing miniscule points about weapons and ships on these forums.

No one is making you, you can always not bother.
Sorry, but I think the AGT is fine. I don't even like the AGT. I'd take a neut over an AGT almost any day.
Yeah, the AGT on the prom works the same as on any other ship: the constant spam makes the recipient unwilling (or unable) to draw a bead on the enemy ship. So I think the fault lies a little more with the Prom than with the weapon. A centaur, being heavier, is an easier target even with the AGT aiding in its defense, while an Atlas is very agile and the AGT spam helps it avoid being hit, but has no stamina and thus is less forgiving of mistakes than the Prom.
Of course, the only Prom in which this problem becomes unsurmountable is the SPC, so it's not game-stoppingly bad.

I actually took on a few AGT Proms using regular GT-ed Taur.
I'd say that with as little practice, a Tau can be as lethal as the Prom. I've downed a few pilots whom I *know* to be better than me from a Taur+GTs, and some of those were in Rev Cs too.
Sometimes, though, I have more fun with a Maud -X even it it means more paint jobs down the road. The Taur+GTs are becoming somewhat too easy. It cramps my 'sploding style.

jex and mouser have good points... the thing is designed to defend against slow heavy ships. And it's not like it can't be outclassed, you need to adapt your style to take them on properly.
That said, yeah, maybe the SCP is a little to manoeverable to warrant the use of the AGT... so it comes down to the classic "Some ships should just be better, damnit" argument.
My humble suggestion: Pack some flares... the ship may be manoeverable, but that doesn't mean it's not heavy. Knock it around and that AGT's crazy firing arc isn't so handy any more.

being a long time user of the AGT and Hog I assure you you only get hit by it if you make a dodging mistake in the regular type ships. In a prom however you jmust have to turbo through their rockets or blasters and sit on top of them the whole time not worrying about damage and blast away with your AGT which is kinda scary to those of us in smaller less armoured ships!
Neither the AGT, NOR the Prom is the problem - its the combination of them both.
if you do much to make the AGT less effective, it will kill the other heavies which depend on it, whereas if you nerf the prom, (while a lot of people really won't complain...), you still haven't done much to diffuse the situation without making the prom incompetent.
You need to apply tweaks to BOTH of them, which accentuate eachother. Namely:
PROM: Reduce thrust, slightly
AGT: Increase mass, slightly
With that, you haven't hurt other AGT users too much, and you haven't hurt the prom too much either, however the combination of prom and AGT together would trake a greater hit, decreasing the desirability of it by increasing the ability for people to HIT it (since it would reduce its agility enough to stop it dancing the way it currently does when loaded down with an AGT and flares)
