cargo should be affected by mine & rocket explosions
thatd be roxxor
well thats a nice thread thanks for pointing it out to me but it is not exactly what i meant.
i meant that if a cargo is next to a mine when the mine goes off, it should get moved, just like a ship would.
i guess if you combine that thread with this thread, what you get is the idea that cargo could be 'just another object', with hull percentage, velocity vector, mass, etc. except of course that it can automagically slow itself down to '0' when its dumped in space.

how many conc mines does it take to throw a samo crate a kilometer?
that would be fun!
though I can see all kinds of problems if cargo crates were capable of causing damage... what if they could transfer their remaining momentum to your ship as you pick them up?
*envisions launching a samo crate with an array of conc mines into a ship, causing the ship to catapault off into space at super-turbo speeds*

Hrm, wingbugging on cargo? :-/
All in all, I like ananzi's idea though. :P

Cargo-bay doors... you have to open them in order to pick up the cargo. Otherwise, it just bounces off your ship...
Doukutsu, that's actually a great idea. It would solve a lot of the problems of cargo selection to, with I believe Cunjo encountered after destroying the Leviathan.
hmmm... how would you implement this? hold down a key to allow the capture of cargo?
I like that... it would also prevent accindental pickups while in combat (which can be a very bad thing if you're flying a light ship)
