Interesting concept... I like it. I also like the idea of spawning at the nearest dockable station upon death, too.
Homing fees will be a great source of revenue if player/guild owned stations are to become a reality.
Docking fees... I'm intruiged and skeptical at the same time. If the docking fees are too high, it will either cut into trader profits too much, and if the distance thing is implemented; stop traders from making long runs unless there's plenty of profit to be made. If the economy redux facilitates this well enough, it would be pretty cool. To do this now would just stifle trading.
I would prefer something more along the lines of 'Parking Fees'. As was mentioned a few times in the Player owned Stations thread, keeping an excessive ship inventory in a station should cost you $$$ per ship per time unit. Another excellent revenue generator for the budding entrepreneurial guild with a station.

shape my point exactly. If you are doing BP and 30 mins later wanna do ctc. For enjoying the game, you kinda have to move up and down so therefore they can't make these costs outrageous.
But i wouldn't mind the nearest dockingstation. I'm still not in favor of fuel though, nor will I ever become.

Shape They will have 'no problem' paying for grayspace except for the fact that everyone else will want to be there too, and by supply and demand, the price will skyrocket, which is what happens in real life, and why a bunch of people from california are moving to places like south dakota and colorado, because an outhouse with 20 feet of yard costs $500,000, and why some closet-sized apartments in manhattan cost $2,000 a month.
Ananzi: What do you mean by supply? there's an unlimited supply
Rene:
Well, if you're itani or serco, that's no problem. Traveling in admired nation space, you don't incur any costs. And if you want to do CTC, you can just home in Edras.

>>"Have you guys ever noticed the force-shield thingy in the exit bays? That field repairs you as you leave, so there is no labour, and minimal materials consumed. So unless you want to have an exit fee there should be no repair fee. (If you need more proof that the field is what repairs you, go to the race tracks. The same fields are there and when you exit the track you are repaired.)"<<
Actually, they're not the same - I've passed a vulture damaged by flying through a station departure bay wall (don't ask how it happened...) through the feild and was still damaged when I emerged. ;)
