Faction Standing Manipulation
It should be possible for an admired player of a gray space faction to increase/decrease the standing of another player at the expense of his or her own faction standing.
This gives players a way to fight unpopular players (griefers) by preventing them from running to the Xang Xi station as soon as they drop to 15% hull. It would also allow players to work up gray space faction standing without jumping through (flaming (mile-high)) hoops.
Suggested numbers:
Admired to non-admired: 2 standing points per 1 point increase/decrease.
Respected to non-admired: 5 standing points per 1 point increase/decrease.
Admired/respected increasing admired (o.0): 1 standing point per 1 point increase.
Admired decreaing admired: 4 standing point per 1 point decrease.

There's SO many ways this could be exploited, I don't even know where to start...
Wow. I really, really don't like this, and the first time a bunch of lamers with throwaway accounts went and rep-bombed you into oblivion for no reason at all, you'd hate it, too.
aye Beo, that suggestion and the cumulative faction gains (ie, you don't move up and down a slider, you just add good or bad faction points forever and their ratio is what determins your standing) are two of the primary things that a new faction system should think about implementing.
There's a built-in way to combat exploiters, and it would take quite a few lamers to be able to combat the rest of the community's faction standing manipulation.
