Rotate free-moving camera
The camera that is detatched from the ship, the free-moving camera (camera mode 4?) does not rotate when the "Rotate ship" buttons are pressed.
Why not?
Devs, is it fairly quick to implement? If so, do you mind?

Ya this is an old wish-list item.
It isn't easy to implement, and will probably be handled when they have to touch the related code again.

Yeah, I know, but I thought it had allways been a part of a bigger collection of ideas and allways been drowned in other chatter.
Sorry to beat a dead horse, but I really like that camera view for running around the sector while mining.
Can't be too careful with those pirates lurking!

That should be a SEDATED horse, not dead.
Oh well.
It'll happen when it happens :D

I believe you when you say it's difficult to implement, but to me, it's essential. I've been suggesting it for a year, sorta hoping it would make it into the release by now. I'm cancelling my VO subscription, but I'll check back with you guys next summer and see if you've got it done then.
To my mind, it's a real wasted opportunity to have a visual computer game with such limited visual options.

i cant get my mind around your post waleran. is it a troll? i just cant figure.
waleran: nevermind that until recently, no first person shooter ever featured camera views besides first person (for example, Delta Force: Black Hawk Down has a 3rd person camera option)
If camera views (or lack thereof) is what turns you off from Vendetta, then I'm thinking you've got your priorities in the wrong place. But if you leave, that's your own business, and I won't do anything to stop you.

ya know.. personally I've never liked games with a 3rd person perspective for controlling any sort of vehicle. navigating and control is hard enough when you have a "pilots eye view"..
looking down from a 3d-isometric means that you cant see very far out in front..
and putting the camera directly behind the vehicle means you have a big blind spot in the center..
and putting the camera at a tight angle above, below, or to the side in VO would STILL mean a large blind spot.. especially since the game is not limited to a planar surface and you have to have some idea whats coming from all directions.

I allways thought of it as ejecting a camera pod that floats in space relaying it's signal to the main viewport.
I agree that third person camera in a space shooter would not be anything but pretty, it's fairly useless for anything but eye candy.
The "camera pod", however, is very useful for keeping an overview of the situation while mining :)

Then we can land our escape pod on planets and walk around!
