I have died 4 times until now. And 3 (three) of them because I have accidentally hit CapsLock while pressing turbo (tab), and then tried to strafe my opponent. Please make flight control buttons case insensitive, or at least add both variants by default and warn new players about this feature. It is painful to figure it out on my own skin.

rather see the caps lock key disabled or prevented from interferring with in-game keystrokes... since I *use* the shift+a,d,w commands.

Unfortunately, they cannot disable the caps lock key. It's one of them darned hardware things. There's a thread where a dev responds, somewhere.

You can map w/W, a/A, s/S and d/D to the flight controls. that should achieve the effect you're after.

I have done it, but it took time to figure this out.
I have proposed to make this DEFAULT configuration and put a warning for new users about this feature somewhere on noticeable place.
