B-8
How about putting a flag , or a beacon at B-8 that we could flip for faction. Have it take a ship sitting still 25 seconds to flip the beacon , then it would be harder to flip , The flipees would have to guard the flipper and the opposing factions would have a chance at attacking. Let the sector show up on our map as the color of the faction that has it. Therefore it becomes a fight for faction pride.
This is a-la Jumpgate, I assume?
We did something similar, once upon a time. We just had eight flags in a sector, and whichever team got all eight and held them for X time "won". Flipping thing would be easier.
Not sure how I feel about putting it in B8. Will check back to read player responses.

People already complain about too much stuff in Sedina, and that it interfers with the Serco CtC route. Also I don't much like this idea, because it puts too much emphasis on combat for the sake of combat. There's no real reason to fight over some flag. Faction pride? How does some flag off in Sedina matter at all to anyone's sense of pride? The flag has no real effect on the factions. Make Sedina that nation's color? The "color" of a system has no real effect on anything. So I don't see any reason to fight over the flag, except for fighting for the sake of fighting. I'd rather see capturable stations, which would have a real effect on the universe, and would therefore actually have a reason to fight for. That would require the UI & other stuff, so will take longer than a simple flag, but might not take a lot longer (a capturavle flag that toggles a system's color on the map would require new stuff, too), and would be much more worthwhile IMO.
Yeah, me too. I'd rather see something with an economic or other impact on the actual faction. Although it's a lot more complex and problematic to implement.
It's a la anything with capture the flag. Beolach , I agree stations would be the cats meow , however that could take many more months to implement . I assumed a beacon or flag would be a reasonable less time consuming task. As for it being in B-8 , thats where all the pvp occurs anyway , why not have a bit more incentive for it . Beolach , of course the color has no effect on anything , nor does the faction you choose , that makes a great argument for having one faction with the same ships. I was trying to come up with an idea that would give the pvp crowd more things to fight over , and something that would'nt take forever to create.
It would take a significant amount of time to do, time that I would prefer be spent towards something with larger scope (such as capturable stations, more missions, player-controlled cap-ships, better economy, etc.), even if it takes longer.
As for giving people a reason to PvP, that's my big objection: this is NOT a real reason to PvP, from an in-game roleplaying perspective. My main character is Itani, with a strongly defensive stance. Beolach does not make any aggressive action against Serco, which includes CtC, and as the Serco CtC route goes through Sedina, Beolach rarely goes into Sedina, as Itani ships present on the Serco CtC route are easily seen as aggressive. So Beolach misses out on all the PvP that goes on in Sedina B-8. Now if your capture-the-flag was implemented, would Beolach all of the sudden decide it is important that in order to defend his nation he needs to go to Sedina B-8 & fight for the flag? No. There is no reason to fight for the flag.
Currently it is true that there is little difference between the factions, but that is a problem that will be addressed, and they will have distinct differences. I am NOT in favor of eliminating the seperate factions. It's sounding to me that you really want the game to go more along the lines of a FPS, rather than an RPG. I on the other hand would prefer to see more roleplaying elements.

Just out of curiousity, how familier are you with CtC? Why would you rather see PvP around a new capture-the-flag, rather than PvP around the existing CtC?

Give us fun stuff!
Things with a larger scope take a considerable amount of time to create. The truth of the matter is , this game is all about pvp .I am familiar with CTC and think most folks ignore it, choosing to stay in B-8 and fight. They can home a jump away , no long boring flights and the fighting is fast and furious. Also from an ingame roleplaying perspective , everyting and anything is a reason to pvp.
Nothing wrong with roleplaying , and I enjoy rping myself , but this game has a serious lack of content. The game you described is available now "such as capturable stations, more missions, player-controlled cap-ships, better economy, etc." I believe it's called EVE . Vendetta is pvp , it currently is Quake in space.

this to me seems more about looking for something new to do ingame and less about a faction mini-game. Lets get some new mission, maybe some new ships and a new economy going and then see if a minigame is really needed.
I like the idea, and while I agree that there are too many features limited to the Sedina area, I would like some passenger-liner, transporter, anything... that would make features around the galaxy easier to access... BEFORE we start putting all the fun stuff 25 minutes away from one another.
incarnate, since most players dont want it in b-8, please do this compramise...
put some of the more complex maze sectors the far bits of odia..... (flags inside the mazes) more flags to taste. add a node or two around with a flag (So if you go into the race track exit in a1 then you get tagged as "blue" and are part of the blue team. not to hard.
you can copy and paste the maze coding.

NO MORE PVP ATTRACTIONS IN SEDINA B8
...at least so long as the serco CtC voy passes through that sector...
either move the CtC, or move the attractions.
currently I'd recommend some place in Odia for said attraction, but that still doesn't address the problem of CtC moving through Sector-FFA...

All I'm sayin is that we shouldn't make these too far apart either.
