Red vs. Blue
(I've had this idea for a while but I've only now posted it. Are we still low on Serco player activity?)
To remedy the dearth of active Serco players, I suggest a social experiment.
Change the color of the Itani to Red and the color of the Serco to Blue. Just for a while. Keep track of new player nation selections and see if it starts to skew towards Serco. I really think that most people just might like the color blue better.
Or perhaps Orange and Green? Bah, now I'm talking crazy.

From my experiences listening to players, they usually choose itani over Serco because of the backstory, not the color of the nation. Take Moldyman for instance, who started serco and then totally switched once he read it. But, I'm sure there is some small population that goes by color alone.
There really ought to be a well-publicised version of the backstory from a Serco perspective.
Wow Tyrdium that is an OUTSTANDING idea. Excellent.
OK, how about different writers? One monk from Itan writes it his way, one Serco archivist writes it his way, and a UIT librarian writes it his way. (Or her ways...) Ever read a police report for the same crime from different people? I'm amazed they ever catch anybody.
Having three separate points of view for the backstory would be extremely interesting, it would make for obvious RP conflict as to which version of the events was right, and gives the backstory a more "real-world" feel. Kind of like reading about the same news story on Fox News, on Al-Jazeera, and in the Guardian. Then let the players decide which one they believe. Serco stories focus on the military, UIT focus on the economics, and Itani stories focus on the touchy-feely parts. (WHY Am I Itani again?)
And perhaps the story could be shortened a bit. I mean I just read it yesterday because I was bored to tears at work and my eyes hurt after doing so. How about an executive summary? That would be nice.

What, was Crip gonna write something like this? I say go for it.
Who will write the UIT perspective? Arolte?

You didn't search for "Serco Backstory", did you LeberMac? Shame!
Anyway, lately the number of players in the nations has started to even out somewhat. At the time of this post, the active players page shows: 25 players -- 8 Itani, 13 Serco, 4 UIT

LOL Beo, that wasn't the original intent of my post (it was switching colors), but I'll take my whipping like a man.
Thirty lashes for not searching the suggestions forum for a previous example of my idea before posting! OW!
Well perhaps it's not a problem anymore, then. I don't think the Serco EVER outnumbered Itani for the 7 months I played before.

They did, just at night. And my bro, cousin, friend, friend, and I all chose blue because of the color.
[Edit] Althought we had a reason, not just because it looked "pretty" (which it does ;D)

Leber... I like being red... take that away from me, and I'll... I'll... poke CP to finish his Serco POV story.
please oh please dont take red away i dont kno what i would do with out it
first thing that came to mind when i saw the thread title was the gang feud between the bloods (red) and the crypts (blue). Perhaps a color change wouldn't be bad, but I think it's just as fine the way it is. Besides, most people don't fly national colors, except recently.
I thought it must be about this: http://rvb.roosterteeth.com/home.php

i dont think how many people there are is a big deal i just looked at the ctc and there are less serco than itani but they are still winning and partof it evens out cuz of UIT
