If a ship's engine gets blown off, would it blow up entirely??
On the HUD interface there is a ship diagram with parts that turn red as you get shot. It seems that it's totally useless and the parts that turn red are random. Maybe this could be made something other than eye candy. Maybe there can be different ship sectors and if a minor part(not the cockpit) get's blown apart, then the ship could still live. If an engine gets blown up there's still a possibility of a ship surviving. Maybe it could cut the ship's speed way down. It would also give you more to think about in a realistic way. Maybe your ship is taking a beating in the front, so you can position yourself to only take the beating in a cirtain place while you prepare for an attack(wait for the delay on a missle to pass or something).
it's been suggested before, but don't be discouraged from other suggestions. Like always, you should search first. I forgot what we came to as a conclusion. Was this sectional thing going to be implemented eventually?

Unless we can actually target these spots in stead of the ship i nits totallity. But in my opinion it seems to be more effort then it is worth.

It's not random, it is based off where your ship is being hit. But it doesn't actually affect anything.
Personally, I think most of the ships we have right now are too small for sectional damage to be worthwhile. But for the larger ships like the HAC, the plan is that they will have seperate subsystems that can be damaged & destroyed.

Oh i'm sorry. I didn't see anything related to this topic. I Looked for a bit. But yeah, i think they should make the ship into sections, definately. It would be cooler and more fun because you wouldn't blow up from just being hit anywhere. It gives you more of a chance to keep your ship alive.
I remember a dev saying that locational damage was in the works. Of course, I'm still waiting for my LOS radar and explosions*.

Heh, if you want to totally nerf running and nerf the moth, make engine damage blow the ship up.
I think that radar masking would be an entirely new element, now you pirates can just tuck into a good sized asteroid instead of WH camping. I would also like to see a blind spot from the sun of each system on the radar. It would be really large closer in and get smaller farther out.
