Automatic Billing Warning
Um. Could we get a warning when automatic billing renews? It's a little disconcerting to find a mysterious $48.99 on your credit card invoice. Just a suggestion...
Agreed. I was never a big fan of automatic subscription renewal services. I really can't afford to run into any surprise renewals at the moment. So I'd like to propose that the whole automatic thing be optional via checkbox or something. That would be cool.
In the meantime the best advice I've gotten so far is to start a subscription and then cancel it immediately afterwards. That should let it run for the amount of time you set it, and supposedly you won't get charged afterwards. So give that a try instead.

I don't mind automatic billing. It just rather surprised me. Now it's a nice repeating calendar event, which I probably should have done originally. Ook! Maybe the devs should give us auto-generating .ics files. Before all you Windows users complain, just remember the word "Sunbird". Wow. I'm rapidly getting off-topic!
I can understand why they'd offer an automatic renewal system. I know that it's convenient and I know that it provides some assurance that customers will stick around and pay for a while longer. But on the other hand I also think that it's somewhat of an unfair business practice, to bill people while they may be too busy or too distracted to cancel a subscription ahead of time. Disputing things like that is by no means a fun experience.
I'm really not trying to sound like the badguy here, but not all of us are financially stable at the moment. I can afford the game for the time being, but having surprise expenses later on at a time when I may still be looking for a job isn't something I'd like to experience. Remember, we too need to have some level of security for things like that. I just think that offering these options may help enhance customer relations and eliminate any future disputes on the matter.
But otherwise I agree. At the very least some type of email or website notification would be nice. Because as it is right now, you have to log in at the very last day to get any type of notice. And that's only something that happens in game. What if you're busy on your last day of subscription and you can't log into the game, or even the website, to check for your status? Well, that's where the problem is.
