it's good. well, what part i read was. it's just that the devs don't like changing huge amount of numbers like that. more of a do over than a "balance", which is tweaking. note the comment somewhere about how one of them wants to keep the IDF valk stats to be a standard "best fighter" for comparing with other fighter ships. you also try to cure specific problems, which when you bundle together with others, might make unforeseen big problems.

with upgraded fighter and the sort, a trade ship stuck at 160m/s is surely dead. make one better, make the other worse and you get a huge gap. plus, why would the special maud have hinderances to compensate? there shouldnt be a "but" when comparing trade ships. hands down better trade ship, no exceptions. maybe the corp reworks (tpg maud, valent maud) should have good upgrades, at the cost of other items, but the standard UIT maud should be the highest of trade ships in general.
oh yeah, and uhhh, don't forget future classes of trade ships, the bulks. i'm sure you'd argue that big trade ships is useless in the small sales economy you argue, but eh.

Fnugget, Trade ships SHOULD be easy prey for a fighter, try outrunning a F-16 in a C-130. This would make grey space DANGEROUS again, but pirates would need to work in groups because at least one of them would need a cargo hauler of some sort. that was hardly an unforseen concequence, it was most assuredly intentional.
I'm aware of the dev's feelings on balance, but i am offering an alternative, mainly because i'm not sure that we can gain balance trying to keep every fighter competitive with every other fighter. The ships need specific roles IMO, but its really just my opinion. If they choose to use any of it, thats fine; if not, no big deal.
As to the trade economy, that can be ramped up as larger ships come into play, increasing the demand at each station (as i mentioned in the other thread). Its overselling the demand that needs to stop, increasing the demand some is certaintly feasable, and will actually be neccesary as we get more players.
