Bootlegging
I propose that there be a new run, from the Tunguska station in Edras to Sedina D-14. This run will contain a new cargo, crates of Old Earth Tequila.
Every so often, there will be a news item that offers the tequila for sale in Edras for something like 10,000 cr/unit. No other station will buy them except for the Sedina D-14 station, and that will go for a lot, like 20,000 cr/unit. So it's a little over a million per Behemoth-run.
Or better yet, make the run even longer - Pelatus to Pyronis, the grayspace route is shorter by one jump and this will encourage trips thru grayspace.
This'll duplicate the fun of Samoflange runs methinks.

Aye!
20,000 per cu??? Pass the joint man, your hogging! =P
Before this gets implemented, I think we need something to do with money first.
actually i'm of the opinion that there needs to be more of a difference between low grade and high grade cargo anyhow...
things like kuxury goods should offer about the same amount of profit (that is to say 500-2000 credits a crate) but the cost for a crate needs to be much higher... say 8 or 9K eack, then sell for 8.5 to 10K. this would make trading more risky at higher levels, because you would invest more in a "good" cargo, and it would also provide a way for pirates to make a better living.

most suggestions as of late seem to revolve around making things better for pirates. While I don't have a problem with pirates, this is not a game ABOUT pirates, and see no need to make pirating easier, or more lucritive.
Hey, didn't you post this john?
"Since the game does not have specific roles for you to assume at the start and lets YOU choose what you want to do it's up the the player base to forge roles and work together to accomplish activities."
So if the game doesn't have specific roles, what's wrong with pumping up pirating to make it a more viable activity... vs. anything else I mean.
The way I see it, to balance light and dark, good and evil, spaghetti and milk, every activity should have an equal or opposite counter-activity.
Trading/Mining (TGFT) makes for Piracy (BLAK, SYN)
Piracy makes for Policing (VPR, others)
This game is about the players, and whatever they want to do with their in-game selves... the game is just as much about pirates as it is anything else.

Bah, everyone knows Lebermac single-handedly drank all up to the last dreg of Old Earth tequila. Everyone also knows that if it don't come from Mexico, it can't be called tequila. So I think we need to look for another item, like maybe "IA I-can't-believe-it's-not-Tequila!" or something...
Plus, I agree with Suicidal Lemming: something needs to be done about the general economy system before implementing such missions. Of course, once the mission editor is released one could make the mission on his own.

I'd like to see more content regarding the more illicit side of the universe:
smuggeling, pirating, bootlegging. As it is there is no illegal cargo or equiplment, if you can buy it the government has already decide it's ok for you to have it.
As it is now the only real diference between a piarat and a military pilot is wether or not they ask their target's permision to attack. And anything beyond that is attatude, and flavor text level roleplaying.

Well I was thinking it would be like CtC but with a difficult TARGET for once.
Call it whatever you like. Heck, make it MD 20/20. I don't care. (But it would be neat if it was an interesting thing to carry around.) The overall effect was to make people sign up for the runs due to the high risk/high reward. The bootleggers would have to hire escorts to make it through grayspace, and then (yes) the pirates would have something to do, bringing down a behemoth while under fire.
