eye candy suggestion on warping
I have discovered that warping and jumping sequences look much better with "i" pressed down. Why not make these sequences zoomed in by default. Try it and tell me what you think. Its simple and can't be hard to implement ( i guess) if more people agree that it looks better.
Yes, they do. However, I'd be interested in just seeing different camera angles for warping. The same angle over and over again gets really dull.
It did do different camera angles once. But that was a bug...
And I TOLD them not to fix that bug. Unfortunately it was fixed. Sigh...
Oh and I don't know about you but the warp (sector-to-sector) animation is still a little off for me. The stream of particles seems to render a little too much in front of the ship than it's supposed. I don't know if anyone else experiences this or not, but that's how it looks on my client (OS X).
Personally I'm not too crazy about all the fairy dust particles either. It looks more like the pilot's waste is being jettisoned or something. I think a cool motion blur/ghosting effect would be more appropriate for warps, just to give the illusion of greater speeds. But whatever, you can't have everything right?
=)

Duh, it IS the pilot's waste being jettisoned. Remember The Empire Strikes Back?
lmao
