Prospecting Badges
I just finished the 120 missions for the Master Prospector badge, and I do like the equippment it gives, but frankly, it's really not worth the 120 missions. It takes way too long, and gets boring fast. The first few missions aren't too bad, but the repetitive nature of the missions make the full 120 rather mind-numbing (especially Van Azek. I swear you devs remove 1/2 the Van Azek 'roids from the universe when I'm prospecting for it).
What I'd suggest is splitting it into two badges, a "Journeyman Prospector" badge after completing 25 missions, that gives access to the Advanced Mineral Scanner, and the "Master Prospector" at either 75 or 100 missions, that gives the High-Density Mining Beam.
The 25 missions for the "Journeyman Prospector" badge will feel much more obtainable & less discouraging than the 120 for the prospecting badge we have now, and having access to the Advanced Mineral Scanner would make the next 50 or 75 missions, for the "Master Prospector" badge, much quicker.
Also, while the High-Density Mining Beam is nice, I think it should be a little bit better, because compared with the Mining Beam Mk II it's only slightly better. Especially if the "Master Prospector" badge requires 100 missions, rather than 75 (I mentioned both as possible requirements earlier). But even if it only required 75 missions, I'd still like it if it had its extraction rate raised to 3, and its range raised to 100m.

I agree, Beolach. I think there should be some form of progression, like the PK badges. Going through 120 missions without getting anything in between really doesn't help motivate any sane person to do it.

Another thing, in the message about the new badge. "Congratulations! You have prospected all the systems very well and acquired an accomplishment." An accomplishment is not something that is normally "acquired".

It took me much longer than 5 nights. I've done the occasional prospecting mission off and on for several months, since the badge for it was first introduced.

I remember getting the black box badge...when I finished it, they didn't have a picture for it yet. Yeah, splitting it into two parts would be nice. It should secretly be a lot more missions, but look exactly the same. Why? Instead of a set number of missions for the "Journeyman" badge, make it so each nation has an identical "Journeyman" badge, but the three identical looking badges should only require how many ever prospecting missions are available in that nation space. Also, if UIT required less missions due to the above effect, it would, uhh, just be cool. The "Master" would still require all 120, from every system.
The idea of multiple missions which look nearly identical is a really cool but sometimes complex thing. It would also be cool if storyline missions started like this, seemingly normal missions, but end up something bigger. I'd certainly be wowed f I came upon one of those.
