Make Deneb a Neutral Sector
I think Deneb needs to be grey space. The Itani station can stay, but a Serco station should be added in the wormhole sector on their side of the system. BP is imbalanced to favor Itani, who can get back into the game quicker than Serco. There's really no reason for that...
I say make it neutral system and put both stations in the same sector about the distance that the old "sect 5" stations were from each other. Put a derelect station about midway between the two to fight around.
The context of BP is of Serco invading Itani space. I really see no reason to make it any easier for the invaders.
I don't quite like it, just because I think the Itani should "feel" like they are being invaded, and the Serco should feel like they are invading.
To make the game more "fair", maybe the devs can *increase* the rewards for the Serco side by a bit.

Don't call it neutral, its too friendly of a name. Call it a war zone or some such.
i agree with this idea!
if the mission is for serco to invade itani, it should be renamed to border incursion, not border patrol. making deneb grey space makes it feel like you are guarding your border, as the name implies. also, they should changed the location to a different sector each mission too.

i ahve always wondered what fighting in a station would be like
W00T hoax!
W00T hoax!
Call it a war zone as SL says and then make the station in the middle capturable. It wouldn't have much, just reload and repair capability maybe, no def bots.

This would give the front a more dynamic nature as you could fight to keep or gain control of the middle ground to get a jump on your enemy. You can't invade or defend if there is nothing to capture or lose right?
No idea what the capture mechanism would be.
The capturable station could be an extention of BP or a mission unto itself.

That is an idea i could live with. as it is right now, the serco have no real motivation to take the mission. If it's more difficult for the serco side than it should be more rewarding for the serco side. IF the xp is to remain the same, than the playing field needs to be leveled.

p'r'aps the serco would kill less bots as another way to "level the playing field"
What if we call Deneb "Contested Space"?
what about DMZ! where we have to ram eachother to take over a station!
no....nvm
warzone sounds good... or conflict zone

Unless the Itani can also take a Border Invasion Mission, it's not quite fair to give the Serco more reward, even if it is harder. So either add a Border Invasion Mission to both sides (attacking the station in the wormhole sector in Deneb and Geira), or put a Serco station in Deneb.
Some ideas:
1. When a group of players accepts the Invasion Mission and enters the sector they're invading, a Mission Bot message should go out to all defending players in that sector (and UIT hated by the invaders) that "the sector/station is under attack and all pilots must participate in defense of the Empire!" Each enemy player killed nets a reward (xp + cash). For the attackers, their goals could either be... disable part of the station, limiting buy options/repair/rearm options (ooh, that could interesting, you can dock there but not repair/rearm) or just destroy the docking bays, which would regenerate after time.
2. Yeah, I agree, make the Border Patrol mission just that. Mission bot: This is your patrol route, spend one minute in each sector: A-3, B-4, A-5, B-6, etc." The opposing side has a patrol route that overlaps. You're not quite sure what sector you'll meet the enemy in, but you will meet him! The mission should also require the group of players to stick together, not fan out and act like sensors. This could really encourage some wingman flying and coordinated assault tactics.
3A. In reference to adding a neutral station that can be "won": Keep the C-10 mission and call it something new (a third type of mission). How about: "An enemy engineer fleet has been discovered trying to rebuild Station [cool name]. Locate, engage, and destroy the fleet; then destroy the station so it cannot be rebuilt. The station will be completed in 15 minutes, so hurry pilot!" This mission would send you into a friendly system, where the enemy is trying to rebuild an old, dormant station to make attacks on your station. The target sector is randomly generated--you have to find it (maybe make it within so many sectors of the wormhole). When the old station is destroyed, the mission is successful. This gives Ragnaroks (heavy bombers) a mission designed just for them! Bring some fighters to provide cover and then pound away!
3B. On the other side of things. This mission requires you to rebuild a station (maybe the repair gun or something like that?) in an enemy sector to use as a staging platform against their station. If successful, it may lead to an Invasion Mission (see #1). Mission Bot: "Pilot, our reconnaissance has discovered an abandoned enemy station in [enemy sector]. Lead a fleet of engineers to rebuild the station. The mission is completed when the station is repaired." You have to defend the repair bots you initially set out with and fend off any opposing attackers. You may also act as an engineer yourself if you equip your ship with whatever they're using.

Until the Devs say otherwise (and add some content), Deneb remains entirely in Itani control. Because of certain defenses that haven't been put into the game yet (Re: Goliath Cannon), the Serco have no chance of forcing a full-scale invasion with capships and what not. Thus, they rely on small fighters to harass the Itani.
These small fighters still have no chance of defeating the Goliath Cannon--while they may be small enough to not be considered a threat by the Ladies' AI constructs and thus evade fire from them, they are exactly what the AI thinks they are. They are unable to do enough damage without capital ships to render the Ladies useless. Effectively, a station under Serco control would be also considered a target by the AI, making it not a viable option for the Serco.
Until (large) ships/objects are able to escape detection (Re: cloaking devices, radar jamming, other stealth devices) by the Itani defenses, Deneb will inevitably remain under Itani control--until the Ladies are disabled, in the very least.

well, all really want, is a station in the BP sector. that is a UIT station trying to make some money with the war. I miss the crazy station battles a ton :)
and, to make it better, make it so when serco or itani are in the sector withen 1000m of the station (not in it) for 5 minutes, the uit lets the serco use the station and turns the turrets on! (that is a ton of stuff, but, pie.)

I would say that if you guys want a system that truly flipflops, we'll need to add a system somewhere. I would suggest a system between Geira and Deneb, that is accessable through either--while maintaining the direct route from Deneb to Geira (for backstory preservation purposes).
How come no one suggested Geira Rutilus a neutral sector?
:)
:)
Cuz no one's fighting in Geira.
Spellcast made this suggestion in the BP thread, here: http://www.vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard/3/10620?page=2#123782
I didn't like it then, and I still don't like it, for the same reasons. You can follow that link if you want to read my thoughts on the matter.

But, I do think Celkan's suggestion of a third border system making a triangle w/ Deneb & Geira Rutilus has some excellent promise. Especially if the wormholes into the new system had a cycle of open for 10 minutes, closed for 10 minutes (most WHs have cycles of millions of years, but I see no reason not to have some with much shorter cycles). And the WH cycles would be 50% off from each other, so both would be open for 5 minutes, and then WH 'A' would be open for 5 minutes, and then only WH 'B' would be open for 5 minutes. That could make for some interesting large scale battles there.
What is difficult for this suggestion is creating an explanation for why the Serco & Itani would fight over control of the system. The only way I can see is a capturable station in the new system, but I don't know if the devs are very close to making capturable stations part of the game.

They better be. I'm paying them near ten bucks a month! I could get half my lawn mowed for that. If they can't do it then I wan't a1k0n to mow half my lawn. Coders ... sheesh!
