Weapon Effects
We need some rockets that don't just go boom, some blasters that dont just blam.
What about a rocket with a lot more explosive force? And those Concussion mines, they cant move anything alone (not condensed) bigger than a centaur. Have you devs ever tried negative force? A L-port rail gun with little damage, but massive range and killer kickback? Have you guys tried to mess with sub munitions or a droppable turret drone?
How about making beam cannons do 30 damage per 1/30th a second for a burst of 5/6ths a second, instead of instantly hitting for 750? It would look more like a beam than an insta-rail.

These are all very interesting ideas... I'd be all for a concussion rocket.
The one thing concussion mines are great for is "concapulting." Just cluster as many of these babies together as you can and have a friend boost at them and let up just before reaching their detonation range. I've heard stories of speeds up to 5km per second.
To add to Fnugget's list:
What about a blaster that "poisons" the ship if you get hit with it? It does 400 damage at first, then 100 damage every second for the next six seconds.

Maybe a "gravity mine" that pulls ships towards it. Nice to use in conjunction with lightning mines (or just to hinder your opponents movement). It would use targeted gravity, that only affects ships your IFF computer considers to be foes.
It would need to have less force than most ships have thrust, so that ships can escape from it, but not as easily as they could from normal space. Say have it exert 125N of force on all enemy ships within 500m of it.
[edit]
Or, if multiple munition types could be loaded, there could be light gravity mines, that would exert 75N on ships within 300m, and the mine launcher could hold 8 of, or heavy gravity mines, that would do the 125N within 500m, but the mine launcher can only hold 2.

EMP missile. Disrupts various subsystems on your ship erratically for a short period of time, like weapons, engines, and targeting.

as far as i can tell, ship effects might be far in the future, as compared to something simpler. I'm sure there's a lot of different ways you can use the current weapon systems we see now, and make it seem totally different, like my beam cannon idea. It would in effect make it shoot you and follow your ship for 5/6th a second, and drain your dmg % instead of taking one massive hit.
Lightning Missile. Instead of exploding, it shoots a beam ala the L-mine for roughly the same damage/distance.
I'm all for weapon variations. balanced, it can only be good.
