Locator Beacons

How about temporary locator beacons. Ever been to an area to mine and for the life of you can NOT find your way back to one stupid roid in a field and end up wasting an hour flying around RE checking all roids? Look, I can sort of (but by no means entirely) understand the purpose of preventing coordinates (although the reason is flawed) at the very least... Please let us even temporarily track our old position somehow.

Personally I think there should be 3d coordinates listed per sector at the least. The point made by others is people would make bots to do harvest mining. Well, guess what. They will anyhow, All you have to do is find/remember once and if you bot it you can record your movements. Regardless of extracting game coords if someone is bent on doing this. They will.

But that all is beside the point. How about a short time beacon similar to when you jettison cargo that will remain in place for some period of time and is trackable from a long distance. Perhaps even somehow recordable by looking at the sector in nav.

For sometime I have ejected bogus cargo for this purpose but fairly often I find my self still searching for at least half an hour for the same roid. Somedays my judgement of the geometry is better than others but when I cant even look left or right out of my cockpit it makes orienting oneself to some definite single point near impossible. You exit stations different each time, rotation is different each time and scenes have a 1000 looks based on even just these two factors.

On a second note I find it funny I am flying around in this ship that can guide itself through a wormhole yet somehow is incapable of recalling a stupid astroid/3d point location in space. The arguement granted is bunk because you could use it to justify many other other possibly undesirable suggestions but it does reinforce the first.

Anyhow, just a suggestion. Take it, leave it. Cool game all around. Too bad I havent the time to play it. Laters all.

actually using a third party kyestroke memory bot doesnt work well in vendetta, because it randomizes where you enter sectors from. you never jump in in exactly the same spot, and you have several different places you can exit the stations from.
Additionally i find that small differences in network traffic and latency delays mineutely alter how much turn arc you get out of XX seconds of roll/pitch/yaw, which would also make such a bot non-viable.

regardless of all of that, I'm all for some form of client side visual beacon (something like the wormhole/storm exit markers) that a player can have displayed on thier hud.

I am AGAINST an actual game device that is visible as an in-space object, just because its one more piece of network traffic/data, and one more set of polygons being rendered.

Considering the different amount of data (and volume of it) that is transmitted to both sides (client, and server), one more piece of info is not going to slow everything to a crawl. Besides, the bot miners can keep track of location, and return to the same spot again.

Ya.. just bring up a old ass suggestion from 2005.. sigh. Just don't be such a twit at mining and remember where the hell the roids are, it really isn't that damn hard. Or, join a guild that does mining.. like ORE.
