Auto-reloading Missles
Since Screamers take energy maybe they should reload on their own? Or maybe since they are a bit strong make missles that uses more battery but are pretty weak (something like large port starflares)
Screamers are rockets, not missiles. When you say "they should reload on their own", do you mean they should automatically reload when you dock, or while still in flight?
Gawd, I hope they don't reload swarm missiles in flight. That'd give new meaning to the phrase "missile spam"
I'm sorry, I usually differentiate, I meant rockets, and like every minutes one appears in your ammo box thing
No idea what this is really about but I like the idea of rockets / missile weapons autmatically being reloaded when you dock. Akin to your ship automatically being repaired when you dock.
I know it costs money so maybe a message coming up or a tickbox somewhere or something. No biggy though.

I think he is suggesting that screamers gradually regenerate ammo while you are in flight.

Perhaps an Energy missle? (NOT the plasma devastator).
and I wholeheartedly agree with missles realoading when you dock, and this being toggleable.

For it to be an energy based projectile, I think it would have to be a dumb-fire rocket, not a guided missile (if it's composed of energy, where is it going to get its guidance from?), but IMO rockets are currently sufficiently powerful, and taking away the ammo limitation would make them too powerful, even if they did have an energy drain to fire.
I agree with Beolach on the rockets' ammo limitation, and agree with Vincent's idead on having your missile/rocket pods auto-reloaded the moment you dock. About a third of the times I've died it's because I forgot to buy missiles at the station; the other two-thirds of my deaths are due to sucky skills :P
Automatically purchasing ammo when docking has been suggested a few times, and I think I've said this in other threads on it, but IMO if done it should be completely optional. I like having control over when I spend my money, thank you very much, so I personally wouldn't want it, but enough other players have said they would that I think it should be an option.

A energy missle would be usefull in a couple of ways
1) if sheilds get implemented, they would be more effective against them, taking out, say a certain side of the sheild at a time
2) they would consume energy to fire and maybe add heat to a bar somewhere and if you excede the bar your ship shuts down (again, if those ideas get implemented)
3)different sounding and looking missiles without proxy deronation, possibly go faster and do more dammage to make up for proxy, while tuning down the dammage sunflares do a bit, maybe?
4)LOOK AT ME!!! I CAN FIRE ALL MY ROCKETS AND IN (# of time) I GET MORE/ANOTHER!!! this will enable all you people to engage an enemy and not worry about having to reload/lose because you run out of rockets.

But we already have infinitely-recharging energy weapons. The very idea then of rockets and missiles is the trade-off to pack superior weapons of limited ammunition. Besides, self-guiding balls of energy are just too improbable. Unguided are just plasma devastator bolts. Perhaps some day we can resupply ammunition from capital ships...

look at my post again, the plasma dev is way too simple (IE, slow moving, big bang, no use PvP), we need explosive evergy rockets. They would have their virtues, and woud be a nice touch. They WOULD have limeted ammo, however, being a energy weopon, slowly regenerates, perhaps this could take 5 drain from a battery? Then after 30 seconds or however long it takes, another rocket is condensed and ready to pwn.

Stukov, while you're first two ideas I don't think would work because of the necesary implimentations, the third one I think would just be nice as variety, and the fourth is definitely the point of this idea. Thanks for making it clear, as I said, my first post was not especially elequent

The regenerating ROCKETS would be good in duels where people are prone to running out of ammo and resorting to bashing eachother with their ships :P
I agree that heat and sheilds don't need to be put in, but it would add another aspect.

the point of rockets is to have limited ammo but the power to hopefully finish your enemy, if you ad unlimited ammo even if it takes time to regenerate that would cause a major unbalance in pvp.
I'm not saying that they will reload quickly, just reload. Maybe I'm taking this in the wrong direction, but I do believe that we need some variance in rockets.
No. No energy flak. Rocket variance might be more interesting.
