I hate it when someone /explodes to take away my kill.

Like I said, if you want to remove it fine, then take out the kamikazi bots from the game. If we can't do it why should they be able to? I've seen them explode, no rockets.
Well its simple, the self-destruct timeout is hardcoded into your ship so that you have some time to deactivate.
It's hardcoded to protect TPG and other similar ship manufacturing corp's from legal issue. (Someone drops their coffee, hits the self -destruct button... etc)
The Aerna Seekers, OTOH, are designed with explosion in mind, They are are essentially missiles with advanced AI, which detonate on contact. It is not a self-destruct system, but rather a prox detonation.

Just give the last guy to do damage to you the kill if you /explode.
Zap. No more incentive to /explode from a fight, and if no one has damaged you within a minute or so, then no one gets the kill and you just die.

Johnhawl : What do you propose we do to the "legitimate tactics" of exploding to deny a kill? If you intend to want to leave it there, do you intend to do it too?
I have /exploded to defeat the bounty system (once, and it was because I was mining, and had no guns, I did threaten to another time, but didnt)
I usually /explode to travel around faster, I dont care about my death count, as anyone with an alpha badge can say, I have died more than that. (Hey, i got reset 3 times! You should have seen my deathcount the first time round...)
