allow the user to target all enemies. which ever enemys in the sites as it changes color is the one the missles go to.

It would be extremely useful if the multiple targets were shared among a group, and you could tell who was actively targetting what. Also if you're fighting multiple enemies and would be frequently switching targets, it would be nice to not have to hit an extra button to target the new ship you want to shoot, as it was already targetted, you just need to start aiming at it.
I agree, multi-targetting would be very nice, with 'mouse-over-activated' ITTS.

So if you target 1 person, you launch 8 missiles at them, 2 people, and you launch 4 at each, etc. It would turn it into a real support weapon.

CP, I was thinking exactly the same thing. That would be so frakking cool watching the missiles split up and go after 8 separate targets.
In the end I think this would be fairly low on the priority list, but it's a neat idea if the devs ever decide to implement it.

multi targeting swarms would be nice, but targeting a new oponent isn't all that hard, especialy if you have a good interface layout.
it'd be a nice idea to have custom radar pictures instead of the standered red-you could for example, put Icarus as a flower and Phoenix as a butterfly and..

Personally...I think better targeting controls are needed all 'round, but this sounds hard and unintuitive.

This would be extremely nice - nice for regular weapons, perhaps... but I could really see this idea fly with weapons designed for it.
What if, when grouped, you could tell who else in your group was targeting that person? That would be kinda neat. Or, what if this was a guild-only kind of thing? Might creaete a purpose for coordinated guild attacks.

Hey, that gave me an idea: what if your ship could only target one thing at a time, but you could see group member's targets while in the same sector, regardless of range?
This could lead to some interesting group tactics, like a light scout "tagging" a cap ship while a group of heavy, less maneuverable bombers deploy long range ordinance from 8 km away.
