Guild Activities, Ships, Standing, etc

Okay, this is something that I came up with today that might be a lot of fun.

The basis for this idea was that there would be largish transport ships available to guilds to buy to transport fighters from one place to another.

This follows that Guilds need to have a common bank account. Players can deposit money into the account for the Guild to use, or they can withdraw loans that must be repaid. If you deposit money into the account beyond repaying any debts, this can serve to reduce the interest on future loans.

With those components, guilds can buy fighters and weapons at stations and transport them elsewhere. These can be unloaded at any station, and are available to any guild member to buy. License requirements are reduced from if a player were to buy them directly from that station, at the cost of increased price. The idea being that to buy a fighter or weapon, the guild is trying to make a profit and increase its wealth.

Okay, but what about player faction standing? Does this affect the price of ships and equipment that the guild sells? No. That's because they're not buying the equipment from the station itself, but rather directly from the guild.

Each guild, however, can rate its members to allow them to buy only ships, only weapons, both, or neither. This is punishment/rewards for bad and good behavior. These ratings are voted on by the Council, and are brought forth by the Commander or Lieutenants.

Guilds also have faction standings. Generally all guilds are neutral with factions, except higher with the nation of the commander and lower with Corvus. Faction ratings can be changed in several ways.

Guild faction ratings are tied in with personal faction ratings, and the other way around. I'll get into that later. But the primary method of raising guild faction rating is through guild missions. Team missions assigned to all online guildmembers that include convoy protection against hive pirates, station protection against hive queens, extremely large bulk freight missions, etc. The difficulty of the mission is based on the number of online guild members, and the standing that you gain is likewise based on how many are online. One online player will bring little rewards, and 10 will bring much more, but the difficulty will be higher for 10 players - more baddies, etc. On top of having a practical function of changing guild faction ratings, it also gives some organized events for guilds to participate in as a team.

So how are standings tied between guild and player? Well basically any change in one rating will have an affect on the other. A rise in guild faction rating will result in a minute rise in personal faction rating. And a rise in personal faction rating will resulte in a very very minute rise in guild faction rating. A decrease in guild faction rating will result in a minute decrease in personal faction rating, and a decrease in personal faction rating will result in a very very minute decrease in guild faction rating.

This follows that the higher the faction rating of a guild, the lower the price of the equipment they want to buy, and the lower the faction rating, the higher the price. If the guild becomes hated, then they won't be able to get missions, and strike forces will be sent out for much higher personal faction standing. Basically, if the guild is hated, then the faction will treat the player as if they were one level lower, so disliked becomes hated, hated becomes KOS, neutral becomes disliked, etc.

So now a guild becomes Piller of Society with a faction, they buy 20 faction specific fighters and transport them to a different station. As long as a player can dock with that station, they have access to the station's fighters available for his or her levels and standing with that faction, but they will also have access to all of the guild's fighters and equipment available for his or her levels at that station unless the guild prevents them.

I'm surprised no one saw this.

hmm... maybe a new office could be created to deal with such matters... "UIT Envoy", "Serco Envoy", "Itani Purchasing Agent", or "Guild Expediter"?

I would love to see this.. or at least the trasnport thing. It'd be so nice for one of our guild members to fly around with a huge ship and load it up with fighters for the guild to use.

I know IA could use alot more IBG's... It's pretty annoying to fly all the way back from Jalik to get one back to Sedina.

Yea, I mean that's the point. So guilds could get harder-to-get fighters, and truck them to the action. Then people would be more willing to possibly lose their fighter and try to get the kill, because then they don't have to worry about possibly having to fly all the way back to Itani space. Of course, the ship would cost more than normal, but it'll just give people things to do with their money.

Additional thoughts: there could be just a normal transport ship, but also with Pillar of Society rating with a nation (not an independent faction), guilds could incorporate themselves with the military forces of that nation and get (future) storyline missions. They would have access to a "carrier" ship, that would be larger, hold more fighters, and serves as a mobile station (able to be homed at).

With nation storyline missions, both Itani and Serco missions are coordinated so the associated nation sends a message to the guild commander and lieutenants and informs them of a mission that their guild could participate in. Something like, "The Serco nation requests your guild's help. If you bring your carrier to the staging area at Betheshee by this date and time, we will give you the details." The guild leaders can then decide if they want to participate. Basically, organized guild PvP events!

It would actually be pretty awesome if you could have 'imported' ships available at all locations in stations. THese ships would cost ALOT of money, and they would only be available if they were sold to the station by other players.

example. Player gets an IBG, flies it down to Sedina V Hold, sells it to Sedina V Hold for 35,000cr.. Then Apex gets his IBG blown up and says DAMNIT! and flies to Sedina Hold to see that an imported IBG is for sale for 70,000. Apex buys the ship and happily serves vengeance to the person that destroyed his other IBG.

The advantage: gives players another trade objective, and allows the rich guys to avoid long abnoxious travel to get faction specific ships.
