Enhanced starfield resolution
My understanding is the starfield "skybox" is dynamically generated whenever you enter a new sector. I run Vendetta at 1600x1200 (my lcd's native res) and even with the graphics settings maxed, the stars still look blurry, especially dim stars. Would it be possible to have yet another texture resolution setting for people with lots of ram on their video card? This would help "Wow!" the new players who have whizbang-gig-of-ram video cards.
Just for reference I'm running a GF4Ti 128meg on Linux. That means no shaders (if those somehow boost star quality noticably).

while I am not running VO on a system w/a high-end video card, I still think it is important for video games these days to have a bit of eye candy -- if only to silence the Doom 3-spoiled fanboys and game reviewers of this world. So, yes, your request for enhanced textures is one to consider, IMO.
That said, the texture(s) on ice asteroids is incredible. :-D

Moofed, do you have your background detail set to Extremely High?
Yes, I do.
What catches my eye in particular are the dim stars that are blurry splotches compared to the bright, pinpoint stars. It isn't so bad at the center of the screen, but at the edges the FOV distortion stretches the texture making them even more splotchy. Same with the shape of planets. They become.. not circles when at the edges of the screen. I'm guessing this is unavoidable for 3D engines.

That would be because things are round, but your screen is square. There's bound to be distortion when you approximate a round visual area with a square screen. The only solution is to purchase a round monitor.
Thats not a half bad idea!
..mmmmm.... VisionStation......*drools*
Does anybody know how much an Elumens VisionStation® ( see http://www.elumens.com/products/visionstation.html ) costs, and where I can buy one? I found a price list in euros at VRtainment ( see http://www.vrtainment.com/vrtainment_web/advanced/advanced8.htm ), and they seem to cost 18,000 euros for a hard sheel screen model, and up to 67,000 euros for an fabric screen one.
Are these available anywhere in yen (I live in Japan) or in any other currency?
