Is anyone other than me still having the exact same OS X GeForce4 Ti related crashes on startup?
GeForce 2 here. I was getting the crashouts, but tonight it decided to do hard freezes that kill my entire machine and are impossible to escape from. It's somehow related to textures on the station, I think. I'll load up and get the "sun is a grey or red square" effect, then I'll look at the station, and it all goes to hell. I'll get what I call the "borg effect", a creeping station texture that covers asteroids, the sun, or one side of the skybox before hard-freezing me. I miss my Vendetta! :'(
Oh yeah, and I've disabled doshaders and that other one.

Did you do the thing where you set your doshaders=0?
I trashed vendetta and re downloaded it. I was able to log in once with out any problems but I had to go to sleep and am now at work so I can't test it. Assume it's fixed and if it isn't I'll post more.
ctishman:
Hmm, you sometimes get the sun to be a red square? That's a first. On our mac, I get the secondary light to somehow turn off when I look at the station. Doesn't happen on Windows or Linux though. I'm trying to track it down.

: ( It didn't go away after re-installing.
Oh red square, once i had the sun in the center of a very large purple octagon...
It's gone now though.

I've got a bunch of pics of graphics bugs on mac if anyone could host em on thier site...
email them to me, please.
Am I really the only one who's still getting the constant start up crashes that happened in 3.2.6 for some people? And should I send more bug/crash reports ray?
Sure, if they don't have any useful info, i can delete them.
I think I fixed it. So never mind.
What'd you do, Eldrad? I still can't get it working.
I created a config.ini in the Vendetta.app folder and added the contents:
[refgl]
doshaders=0
dovertexbuffers=0
Ummmm.... it's somewhat of a pain in the but to do... Do you know how to use terminal? I don't think there is a way to open Vendetta.app without terminal. You also need to know how to use a text editor. If you don't know something say so and I'll try to walk you through it.

Unaltered 15" G4 iMac... GeForce2, 256Mb system memory
every time I manage to get the game started it freezes on me when ever I've just been either hit by a volly of laser fire or when I was real close to an explosion.
added the doshaders=0 thing, allowed me to actually get into Vendetta... but now I can only play if I don't get hit... in other words... 5 minutes before I have to restart my computer and wait to do it all over again. Any ideas, Devs?
Oh yeah... OS 10.2.6

A quick note:
the fix works for me (kernel 2.4.20-rc8-aa1) + NVidia driver (agpgart), but before the fix, during kernel 2.4 the game will crash, with kernel 2.5.72, the machine will lock dead instead.
Makes it even more suspectible its a driverproblem..

Eldrad: Right-click (or control click if you have a 1 button mouse) and pick "show package contents". And no, it's still crashing.
what did you use to create the config.ini file? (Didn't know that, but you can also just "cd vendetta.app" in terminal or X11)
ya vendetta doesn't create a .vendetta in OS X. It makes a dir that when opened w/ finder runs the game.
Eldrad: vendetta creates a .vendetta directory in your home dir everything is in there ;)
[EDIT]
Sorry, OSX not linux, my bad :/
