I'm sure you guys are working on putting the network code on a diet for the capships, but if you aren't I'd just like to point out that the capship lag is so bad sometimes I can't even hit the ship. PvP combat is very difficult around a capship because it causes such severe laggyness. Also being hit by shots you can't even see isn't too fun.
I don't know if maybe equiping the turrets with something a little less network-heavy than Gatling turrets would help, but the capship lag must be fixed if VO is ever to demonstrate Capships to a larger commercial audience.
Keep up the good work guys!

I second this.

When im shooting capships in my rag, it just suddenly jumps to either side and all my rockets miss :(

Cap ships indeed move like B-Boys sometimes.
I've taken collision damage from capships that appeared to be rather far away from me.

How do you know it's collision damage?
Anyway, I really don't understand what it is you people expect the devs to do about it. Cut down the number of turrets? Cut their rate of fire? Limit the amount of shots per sector? Ignore it?

I'm taking damage from a Cap ship that has been compeletely stripped of turrets. If it wasn't collision damage, what was it?
Never saw this happen. In my trailer every turret of two capships was firing, yet everything was smooth. Did this just start happening recently?
It was about a week or so ago that I noticed it. Most of my experience with the capships has been fine, though.
you laggards. I never lag with the cap ships, what's your ping?
It's not ping, it's packet loss. There seems to be just too much information comming in at once for my connection to keep up and maintain a steady connection
I'm reminded, for some reason, of Battlefield 1942. The moment anyone started driving one of the ships, everyone started lagging to the point of unplayability.

apex, my ping jumps up to around 400 when they spawn the capships...
During the last great cap ship battle. I was only lagging a little. My ping was aboyt 50 before the battle started jumped to 200 when the UIT and serco ships arrived and went back to 50 after about 5 min.
Next time i'll be sure to check my fps.

Something needs to be done to handle the lag. My ping is normally in the 20s, and my downstream should be more than enough, yet still when theres multiple capships + lots of action, theres people teleporting all over.
My understanding is that it is NOT the VO server, but a pipeline in Chicago. For what it's worth (very little, I'm sure) I get no significant lag from CA.
Never any lag from MA either. I mean, I get little jumps sometimes, like when I have bt downloading the latest ubuntu iso, but I've never seen it above ~60ms in normal usage.
:)
I don't think I've experienced lag issues except for two times when RoadRunner was wonky.
However, I'm in SE Wisconsin.
My ping ranged from 25-57 the other day and I was flying around, in an ion storm and in sedina in capship at various points that day.

What is a capship? (Sorry to be so dumb) :-)
