The new Vendetta Wiki
I'm curious about the state of the new Vendetta Wiki... I also felt that this topic needed to be discussed outside of the context of the stolen wiki.
Who will be hosting the main site for the new wiki?
How will the information be managed this time?
Has any of the information been recovered from the hijacked wiki?
More importantly, how can I help?
Just a thought, but there could be several mirrors for the Wiki so no one host has authority over the information, even if it is backed up regularly.
If this is a possibility, I would like to volunteer to be a mirror.

I'll probably be hosting the new wiki. Lemming will have full FTP access to the wiki's site, and full access to the MySQL database. So far, no information has been recovered beyond what's cached by Google, but efforts are underway. As for helping... Learn the MediaWiki syntax, and make us some content! :-)
Having mirrors is actually a pretty good idea...
Anywho, I've got the domains www.vo-wiki.com and www.vowiki.com, sooo... yeah...

We really should be a .net, you know.
PS: I could probably do some mirroring. Or just give me database access and I'll one-up you with automatic backups and a backup mirroring system. :P

Work on setting up the wiki will begin as soon as I get FTP and MySQL access, currently Tyrdium is having some trouble with it.
I do have backups of all the files I tinkered with in the wiki, such as settings, extensions, and CSS.
The old wiki has most of the content in its outdated form:
http://lemming.localnetsys.com/wiki/
You can find the mediawiki syntax over at:
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Editing
I do have a back up of all of the images. Which I notice some of them need to be re-cropped for perfectness. Right now they are scattered across my HD like debris from an explosion.

As you can see, the wiki is indeed back up. We will be moving over to the new server 'soon', and I do have:
- The Database
- The Images
- The customized CSS
- The various little extensions
- And something else I have forgotten about.

count me in as a mirror, although im assuming mirrors are going to have to be read only since mysql doesnt support multi-master replication (yet).

I'm moving to a new host (waiting for domain transfers to complete), so SL will have full access to MySQL databases, FTP accounts, cron jobs, whatever he wants. cPanel is nice. :-D
Yah, basically in lemming heaven, a cron job will set a script to package and send several important files (DB, images, stuff like that) else where, like, not on the server it is on currently. It'll run weekly or every other week, depending on how much on average gets done per week.
1337ness, everything's transferred. I'll get Lemming set up tomorrow. For now, sleep! :-D
Yah, it'll be up really 'soon', honest! I can't do it right now cause I've been in cape cod for the last few days, and it decides that the new wiki's site does not exist. So, tomorrow is possible.
Just a note, you'll probably want to redirect http://www.vo-wiki.com/ to http://www.vo-wiki.com/wiki/. Right now it's showing the Index of /.
Cool, Lemming got it up and running. As for the domain part, the wiki should've been installed in the bottom public directory. Lemming! Move eet! :-D
I like it where it is! I have my reasons for its location, even if they are obscure and insane!
Bah, lemme see what I can do.
Edit: Nevermind, Lemming got it. Hooray for cPanel! :-D
