Hacked Guild CVS server

Mar 14, 2005 Rado.hr link
I've managed to hack into their CVS server and get the source of Vendetta... now, I would never belive it - it is written almost entirely in CLIPPER!!! And it seems it's Summer '87!!

There seem to be some OpenGL library concockted by the stuff to get it working, and there are some calls to something I couldn't find, it seems this is some weird hook to sound API-s (and the reason ALSA doesn't really work and the sound is crappy?)...

But it does make some sense, somehow. Now that I know their source, I'll set up a few mods, like one for accounting and one for personal expenses and mortgages, so I could do some work while flying around. Where do you want me to put it? I think right above the rear radar view would be just fine? I'll try to get some screenshots of my mod as soon as I produce first beta...

P.S. For you who want to ask me to share the code with you - you really don't want to see it. It's ugly. Really ugly and unreadable. Guild guys don't know how to code in CLIPPER.

P.P.S. my mods are going to be GPL, so if anyone of you likes it, you can make a port to Vega Strike...

Don't forget that it has hooks for loading mods written in lua! LUA!!! LUAA!!!!!

I have a hunch this falls out of the EULA. The part about not trying to get the source code.

See, because it's Clipper VO, get it? No? You aren't missing much.

Anyway, file it under humor/troll

I guess my computer humor hasn't matured to that point yet.

I think it would have to mature, then overripen, then rot, and then small woodland animals would have to eat and fully digest it.

dont forget passing it, Forum Mod. The small woodland creature would definitly have to pass it as well.

you're leaving out the bugs that will consume it afterwards.

And then the birds, who will prey on said bugs, digest them, and then with impeccable precision, target Lemming with well-refined humour.

That's kinda where I was going with "fully digest", but I'm much too proper for all that. Anyways, one's humor would have to fester, rather than mature.

On the whole, the replies have been funnier than the topic.

Yeah, that's because that Clipper code really sucks.

I once had a girlfriend who did code in Clipper.

She dumped me because I was taking too much time from her study and coding tasks. Like, seeing each other more than two times a week for a few hours is slowing down her career, yeah. :) Later on she dropped out of University for reason unknown to me and married some guy (these two events are not related, I think). In the meantime, I got rich and famous, and am still good loking (did I mention the moeny?), chick-attracting (did I mention the money?) and generally speaking popular (did I mention the money?) person around.

So you see, if you're about to continue using Clipper, you might get married, but you won't get rich.

It must be coded in Unlambda!

You mean, my ex-girlfriend?

Bah, it should be programmed in Brainf*ck!
