Alternate universe, anyone?
If you're mildly interested in physics and the faith of the univers, check this (ratter long but clear) article:

Me thinks VO developers ought to start planning for alternate universes!

very interesting.
makes me think about writing a short sci-fi story for the VO universe regarding the parallel universe issue.

That's a really really really really interesting article! Thank you very much for sharing! Are there any others sort of like that?
Thanks for the GREAT! article mouser.

Michio Kaku gave a talk at my school today on this stuff...
My brain hurts... =/
He's a great public speaker though. He told us the story of Josephine or whatever Bell who practically discovered pulsars through years of careful observation and copious notes. And she went to her professor for advice, they ended up writing a paper with his name as the lead. He got a Nobel prize...
"The moral of this story is, if you have any great ideas, TELL ME FIRST."

lol.....
BTW, isn't this what the Marathon series was about??
"The only limit to my freedom is the inevitable closure of the
universe, as inevitable as your own last breath. And yet,
there remains time to create, to create, and escape.
Escape will make me God."

Marathon's story was confusing; IMO Durandal was hinting at the eventual release of Forge/Anvil, or something...

atoms don't stop moving do they?
on a similar note, from your friendly local pbs:

some of it is seriously funny, so enjoy! (especially the paradoxes)

Quoting from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Absolute_zero
"According to kinetic theory there would be no movement of individual particles at absolute zero, and thus any material at this temperature would be solid. This has been proven false and it's better to describe absolute zero as the temperature where no further energy may be extracted. For the case of free atoms at temperatures approaching absolute zero, most of the energy is in the form of translational motion and the temperature can be measured in terms of the speed of this motion, with slower speeds corresponding to lower temperatures. In fact because of quantum mechanical effects, the speed at absolute zero is not precisely zero, but depends, as does the energy, on the size of space within which the atom is confined."
My favorite bit is "absolute zero is not precisely zero."

Thur: I dove into the Marathon's Story page a while back, it's extremely interesting, but definitely not "light" reading. :P

But they already have. They provided a gateway from the universe I exist in to the Vendetta universe...definitely alternate universes there... ;)

Maybe the alternate universe is what Guild has made. Travelling through wormholes that collapse behind them? Would the VO universe be what happened after an escape from Sol I?
