writing fiction is not 'role playing'
get a grip people. you cannot rename every creative activity into 'role playing'.

dude Hoax, that rocks!
We should make a whole dictionary of that stuff, just for Vendetta.
and back to the conversation:
ananzi, I noticed that you complain a lot. Just saying.
But, role playing is just what it says, playing a role. Making fiction is playing a role. I can walk up to someone and pretend to be a hobo. That's fiction, but it's role playing. But why is this in the off topic forum anyways? Shouldn't it be in role-playing if it's about role-playing?
My two suggestions for the day:
Make a whiney forum &
move this to role playing.

fanfic is roleplaying.
Someone dare tell verd that.
He's right, writing fiction isn't really role-playing as such; unless you count it as 'playing the role of a writer'...
Of course, it's entirely different if you're taking part in fiction.

Fanfiction is only roleplaying if it has to do with your character(s).
Last night, on my last day of work, Fugs and I stopped at the Cumberland Farms conveience store in good 'ol Winthrop. I went in, got a Dove chocolate ice cream bar, and proceeded to the checkout. When I got there, I noticed a strange looking girl, perfectly groomed, etc. When she reached to get my money, I noticed she had the hariest arms I'd ever seen in my life. I stopped, looked at it, and gave it my money. Looking at it again, I could see it was really a guy trying to be a girl. I went outside to the car, spooked, and kind of weirded out. I get in, fugs is laughing, I ask him "what?" and he says, "Verdandi in real life"
I frankly don't care either way... I'm playing with moving my posts from a declarative in "Suggestions" to a piece of pseudo-fiction in "Roleplaying"
There's a grievous overabundance of "mechanic" on these forums, and not nearly enough "motif":
mechanic : the mathmatics behind the game
motif : a theme or descriptive element based upon the underlying story
mechanic - AI targeting algorithms, thrust/vector ratios, weapon damage tables
motif - the war between the Serco and Itani, the station-bound life of the UIT, the feel of being thrust back against your seat as you boost out of the station at 160 m/s...
It is *motif* that defines the galaxy, and your place in it; it's time to remember that this is a **role-playing** game, and conduct ourselves accordingly
