Fav Game Genre
Whats your fav game genre?
MonkRX Loves FPSes... He hates MMORPGs the most. Many of them are repetive.... very repetitive....
MonkRX loves any kind of game with some short of FP-Combat with different ways of killing things. AKA: Vendetta Online's PvP combat :).
My other favs are racing sims and flight sims. I stink at them, but I love them anyway.

fps, tps, light rpg... a bit rts and adventures. racing sims... yeah, but only the ones you get for free. space sims... well, i played WC and ven. nuf sed?
[edit] forgot beat-em-ups. yeah. and tactical shooters. especially now that i've been trained in combat in urban zones (which is hell, but fun if in training), i can use the tricks and gimmicks much more effectively.[/edit]

Fighting games, arcade games, RPGs (any kind), and the odd FPS. Space sims aren't normally my kinda thing, but this is uh different. Yeah. >.>
RPG, Not the "point and click to follow the plot, with a faint pretence of role advancement" of Bioware, but with the oldstyle feeling, Fallout 1/2, Arcanum and so on.
Turn based strategygames. M.A.X. , M.A.X.2 , Panzer/Fantasy -general , Civilization...
And, I miss the extremely highspeed FPS'es. When I first started out with UT, UT2kx and the likes back in the day, that was what truend me away from it. Not intense enough. I was a QuakeWorld addict (emr. "clan player" ;) back in the days, with all the system tweaks to go with (What graphics? turn it down until its coloured shades, just to make it go snappier! ;).
Of course, some games are still fun, but at the end of it, they all feel slow. There wasn't any tight, packed, highpace action to get, so I abandoned the genre.

Leisure Suit Larry? :P
hmmm no. i was thinking more like 'The Settlers"
Black Omega, have you reserved the Playboy game? That should be your type of game...
:P
:P
3D FPS games. Love 'em. Nothing like taking the perspective of your character with an up close and personal feel to it. Unfortunately because they're so popular there tend to be many low quality games of this genre that involve companies thinking they can just slap anything together and sell it.
3D CFS games. Unfortunately there hasn't been a single good one of these on the Mac platform for a long time. The last good one was A-10 Cuba!, by Parsoft. All the others have been pure crap. The day Fighter Squadron: Screamin' Demons Over Europe was cancelled was the day this genre died for me on the Mac platform.
And lastly, hybrid genres. Deus Ex is an example. It's not purely roleplaying, nor is it purely 3D FPS. It's a mix of both. Vendetta falls in this category too. Any game that'll redefine the genre altogether and do it right is good in my book.
The ones I don't like are turn-based games, games based on movies, and RTS. And the reason I don't like RTS games is partly because of the resource gathering involved (boooring!) and partly because of the inhuman levels of multitasking involved with units.

RPG games, mainly along the lines of Daggerfall and Morrowind. Plenty of FPS (First Person Slasher) goodness there. Open ended game play. Follow the plot line or strike out on your own. Deus Ex was cool but the sequel's requirements are too high for my exisiting system. Need to start buying parts for a new PC "Soon™".
I also play much Descent 3 and BF1942. Guess they would count as FPS.

MMORPGs, with turn-based strategy games and FPS games in second. Right now, my order of games is FF XI, Halo, Civ III...
Any game where I get to blow some other human to hell and back. Also rts games, classic arcade games, and pretty much any game that you're a mercenary in.
Leisure suit larry was one of the first games I ever played..

RPG: loved BG series, gothic series. Hated icewind dale series, diablo series, morrowind series, fallout series and arcanum.
FPS: hate them all, except for HL
Footies: fifaxxxx has always been fun for a couple games...
RTS: play them 1 day, am bored of them the next day.
sim series: to frigging boring.
MMORPGs: hate them all where you can find pvp or where pvp is the max or where prices are exurbant for some stupid piece of equipment. If im level 120 then I expect to wear level 120 and not spend millions to get it and notice that next week ill need to spend millions just to get my level 150 equipment. Or where I just use 120 equipment untill im level 180... I expect everoyn eto have base levelspecific equipment for a moderate amount, but for the rarer parts "example looks better and has some added rarities like critical chance or something, I dont mind insane prices...". Since I will not buy them anyway.

True real time stratagy. games. Not warcraft where you gather crap and whoever has the biggest army wins, but games like Close Combat where a single man can turn the tide of a battle, and a lucky shot can turn it right around.
Warcraft and Starcrasft got too boring an repeditive, myth was... ok. ish. but not that good.
FPS, Third person shooters..

My favourites are RPG's and Strategy, but I don't like every game in those genres. For example, the RPG's I like the most are games like Fallout, Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights. RPG's I don't like include most MMPORPG's and Diablo-esque hack'n'slash games. I don't like RTS's at all because, like Urza, I find them too repetitive and shallow. Actual strategy games I like are tactical strategy games like the X-COM series and Laser Squad Nemesis, but I hate games like Starcraft, the Warcraft series, and so on.
FPS's I play a lot, but aren't my favourite. I enjoy almost all FPS games, though.

Ooh ooh, and I hate 'button-basher' console games, racing games and all sports games.
