sleep deprivation
Ok. Last night i couldn't sleep. Literaly. I just didn't feel tired at all. Not 1 bit. as of now i've been up 16 hours, with no caffine for the last 7.
This is not fun. i'm afraid if i sleep now, i'll sleep till like 8 PM, and really f*** up my sleep cycle. So i get to go all night tired as a mo fo. I need red bull.

Your best bet is to stay up (or try) until 8 o'clock at night, at least. Then when you go to sleep, you won't be messing up any rhythms. Also, even if you can't sleep, your best bet is to lie in the dark with your eyes closed, because even then your body is getting needed rest.
oh, i did that for a good 3 hours...I'm still a bit tired though
Urz---why not go ahead and sleep till 8 pm, then pull a 24 hourer rather than a 36? It'll disrupt your cycle that night but only that night.
Or just catch a 3 hour nap, you'd be suprised how well just sleeping for 1 cycle can work. 3 hours will work better than 2 or 4 because you'll be waking up after 1 complete cycle rather than interupting one. Plus you won't ruin your next night from too much daytime sleep.
In the first Gulf War I did guard duty for a while on a 8 hours on 4 hours off shift. We were a bit short staffed, anyway, it wasn't really as bad as it sounds breaking your daily sleep into 2 chunks. It does blur the days together though.

I think you have to sleep about 4 hours for it to be "sleep" (you wake up feeling like a day has ended), and not just a nap.
A way to knock your sleep cycle on course (fix jetlag, etc) is to work yourself to exhaustion--run a few miles, work out, fight rabid bunchies--and collapse in bed dead tired when it is the 'appropriate' time to sleep =D
