Skies of Arcadia... OMG
Once in a while, every gamer is privileged to play a game that is truly incredible. I could go on about Vendetta for a paragraph, but I'm not going to.
Skies of Arcadia is, WITHOUT A DOUBT, the BEST RPG I have ever played. Ever. Beats FF7, beats Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, Golden Sun, Dragon Quest, Pokemon (shudder), all of that random jazz into a messy pulp.
However hard I try, I can't find anything to criticize about this game. The battles run smoothly, the graphics arent spectacular but they are very nice, the storyline/characters don't seem cliched in the slightest, and the ship-to-ship battles are awesome.
I haven't completed it. I bought it about a week ago, and its gone from "meh..." to "hmm" to "!" to "!!!" and I'm afraid to play it, because I know I won't be off for 5 or so hours afterwards. The genius of actually making you want a new piece of equipment so badly you have to keep playing until you get it (the Delphinus *drool*. You could tell Vyse was about to get a new ship, you play on, but this takes you aback as just being amazingly cool. For some reason you don't see it coming), or a puzzle so annoying you have to spend an hour tinkering with it (the stairs puzzle on Duccat's island, that was so incredibly annoying I went for a piss twice while doing it to retain my sanity.)
I picked the game up for £20. So far I'm about 25 hours in and I think I'm just over halfway through... that works out as what, less than 50p an hour for this masterwork.
I love this game.
Buy it, its on Cube and Dreamcast. But apparently the Dreamcast one has more swearing and a stupid amount of random battles. Uh... yeah. BUY IT BUY IT BUY IT BUY IT BUY IT BUY IT

Completed it... after many late-night sessions. I still think there's a bunch of stuff I haven't touched on, but the main game is done. The final Gigas was awesome; the final boss was a little disappointing :P
And the ending is suitably cheesy... but the buildup to the final battles kinda throws you off with its sheer awesomeness.
I'd print more, but I'd have to plaster this post with ***SPOILERS*** when I know you're all dying to buy this game.
