Hey check out this 2D space shareware game for OS X:

Don't the backgrounds look similar? What about the interface? The typeface used? Weird eh?

Ah well. It's just some guy trying to make a living off of game development. I will stick with Vendetta for the following reasons:
a) It's 3D, not 2D
b) It's way more potential than a game like that which is focused on 'crystal mining'
c) Argonaut doesn't have quite the same ring as Vendetta.

It is a cool game, for an Asteroids clone.

When I played it, it never reminded me of Vendetta--although the 3D space station was cool (yes, that's my highest praise).

Dissing a game for being 2D is a little harsh, some game formats work far better in 2d than 3d...

Don't forget Abuse. That's gotta be the best side-scroller action sci-fi game.

Viewtiful Joe = Awesome 2D game.

Link to the Past + Super Metroid = the two greatest games of all time. And they were both 2D.

2d platformers: Abuse was good, but Turrican 2 was the nuts!

Original Castlevania's are untouchable as old-style platform 2d games. I liked Rastan a lot too!
