The dark dusty corners of the real internet

Dec 20, 2025 Snax_28 link
We just hired an incredible nerd who runs a dragon/neopet website that has been around for at least the last 20 years, is completely lost in time, completely out of touch with current web standards, but still mostly functional thanks to the hard work of a few volunteers.

I'm presuming not many current players will recognize my username, but I played Vendetta pretty extensively in the 2010's. It was an obsession for a good while, one of the first times I really got into a proper MMO, made real friends online, just about fucked up my bachelor degree (not to mention my marriage)... the whole MMO experience.

The reason I'm posting though, circling back to our new friend with the dragon neopet game/website, is this: I quit playing VO like 10-15 years ago. I check back in from time to time with a sort of morbid curiosity. And VO is still kicking, just always kicking. It is mindbogglingly inspiring to find people on the internet still doing the thing, in spite of all the bs we all face day to day, keeping these small corners of the real internet alive and well.

Please keep doing this stuff.

I get a kick out of that one once in awhile.
