Does anyone have a mirror of the movie?
"about the movie: i wonder why anyone would use a sword to hit a table squarely on the table top... stupid people."
-To demonstrate how strong it is. Duh!

NooOOOO! It's been taken off!
O...k... Magus's post confused me.
And wouldn't the Cesium Hydroxide be dilluded too much to remain toxic? Magus Said: Only after a few min.
And sicne he wouldn't be inhaling the most potent form of it couldn't enter and the Hydroxide isn't deadly (I dont beleive) unless it enters an open wound (even I don't understand this i rewrite)
And since it wouldn't enter the lungs (the most dangerous way) and only contact skin, wouldn't only cause irritation? Magus Said: NO
rigghhhtt, I'lls top now

Awww... I was hoping the home shopping channel would put up one of me Cesium Hydroxide swords and bang it on a table :P
PS: I should've added this at my very first post but I spaced it,
I reserve the right to call that guy a DUMBA**

in reply to magus:
you don't show how strong a *japanese* sword is by hitting a table squarely on its top.
there is a specific way to test a blade (you have to cut a bundle of damp rice straw, earlier they used condemned criminals, this is called tameshigiri).
hmm... *feels like he missed the point* anyway... that man is stupid.

And hmm, I've always liked the Japanese, they get stuff done!
"earlier they used condemned criminals"
/me goes and watches Harry Potter to see if Nick is in anyway Japanese.

Is there are a download mirror to this video? I watched it once but had the sound off because it was during class. I went to watch it again but apparently they took it down because it exceeded their bandwidth. Damnit!!
get on irc, i'll send it :P
Besides the fact that this guy doesn't know his steel, and besides the fact that banging it against a solid wood bench is simply STUPID, know what's the most stupidest (is that a word?) thing he did? He called it a Katana!! Arrrrg!!
Now, I did watch the movie a lot but I still might of missed something, but that looked a heck of a lot like a Ninja-To to me.
That's what ye get for naming it wrong!
But about the stainless steel thing.... I honestly think it would be very possible (maybe not probable) for the sword to break even if it was made the way the real Ninja did it. Their swords were very "cheap" and not high quality, and they rarely struck each other. To do so would most likely break one of the blades. Ninja and Samurai alike fought skilled battles of positioning to get a single deadly slash and stab into their opponent. Swords were commonly used to guide or direct the other attackers blows, but rarely or never used to strike or directly block another sword attack.

I think people just assume any sharp piece of metal from Japan must be a "Katana." Be it a No-Datchi, Ninja-To, or a genuine Katana.
Kind of like band-aide is used for all adhesive bandages and xerox is used for all copiers even though they are actually brand names in their own right.
in reply to siliconx's post:
indeed you rarely parried back then. but the swords in japan were not poorly made.
compared to european standards at 1600, japan had the best blades made. they also had a very deep knowledge of metallurgy.
for comparison: back then, about 100 swordsmiths knew how to create the "uzuri", a sign for the quality of the blade (very high q). today, there are 3.

Toshiro, you misunderstood. I know they had expertly made blades, like the Samurai for instance. Folded steel, sharpest in the world if I recall.
I never said the Samurai swords were poorly made or that Japanese swords were poorly made, but that NINJA swords were poorly made. This is a fact, they didn't think of their Ninja-To's the same way the Samurai thought of their Katana's and such.
That said, please don't misunderstand me in the future. =)
