These were pretty cool.
I would be too afraid to crash into the trees to fly like that.
awesome
miss manako, I crash semi-frequently... depends how aggressively I am flying. The quad I am flying is pretty sturdy, I've flown into trees and such at pretty high speeds, and broken only props so far.
Left a comment at one of those. you almost lost your drone to that fence!
Whoo, those were cool to watch. Beautiful place to fly, too!
Hehe, yeah, that was close. We dubbed that baseball fence the Faraday Cage, as we thought it'd block signal, but it was fine
Nice job Faille, one day you will have to kick it into fill acro, that is where the fun begins. Just start easy, do laps around the same course with no trees, then go the other way, then start plotting courses with both turns... Can't tell you how many figure 8's I've done through soccer goal posts. I just hope you learn powerloops easier then I did. Turned her right over with too much throttle and drove it right into the ground.
That is full acro, lazy. The Speedix is a bare-bones racing quad. It has no GPS/etc, and only flight 3 modes, "Angle", which is auto-levelling, keeping the quad's pitch/roll angle relative to the stick position, "Rate", where the rate of pitch/roll is relative to the stick input (called acro in most flight-controllers), and "Horizon", which is an awful hybrid of Angle and Rate modes. It is anathema and we do not speak of it in polite company (or here on the VO forums :P).
So, in Rate mode, if I give full roll input, the quad will roll at the fastest rate possible, while at say 50% input it rolls at half that speed (-ish... exponential rates etc). In Angle mode, because the sticks can only go so far, and the quads orientation is kept relative to the stick, flips and rolls are not possible.
The biggest difficulty is visibility. While the Mobius records in HD, the video transmitter can only transmit in pretty low res (think cheap security camera), and the frequencies available (legally) are less than optimal. I'll dig out some "telemetry footage" and show you what I actually see while flying...

nice vids. the speedix looks bulky though. still running with 12a esc? I just built up a 220mm qav clone. spf3, 20a blheli, 2205 2300kv, 600tvl, 600mw vtx. switch between some bullnose 2 blade and deal cyclone triblade. just running 3s but it's a beast! Still need a runcam though. got some goggle twos.
