Discord voice chat

Nov 30, 2015 cnaw link
Hi All,

Just wanted to mention that I've been using Discord Voice chat for all my guild communications lately, and it has been pretty damned good. It's free, and the sound quality seems quite good. Very low system usage. A few guildy complaints about the iphone app interface, but other than that, we like it.

It's like web based mumble.

We've used mumble for years and the reason being is because it's open source and highly configurable. We have a number of custom built bots that perform functions like recording and replay as well as soundboard and extracting images and such.

Yes i know about mumble and Raidcall and skype and TS3 and Google Hang outs and ventrilo They all have their pluses and minuses. Hell, we could communicate using Ham radio (getting a Technician license is not that hard)

This thread is about Discord. We like because the sound quality is top notch. It's very straight forward to use. Just send a new user a link, and they can start talking right away, or download the Windows/OSX/Iphone/Android application.

Only positive for mumble, that i can see, is that mumble is opensource.

Oh and.

I can agree that Discord is a great voice chat system. There is a thing you can download but you can also use it in the browser. We have had people use it on Linux and Mobile and I'm pretty sure it works on mac too.
