WIP Tinkercad Models
Playing with Tinkercad. This is a quick Valk prototype.
And a Vulture prototype.
Still figuring out how to drive it, but it seems pretty cool.

Looks cool! Now make me a Raptor UDV (the best ship in the game)!
Come let me take screenshots of a raptor and I'll have a go. You know where I live...
In the mean time... trying more complex shapes. Here's a Warthog...

holy shit that's sweet
Faille you should try making these in Blender instead if you get the time, much more commercial application.
Is Blender free?
Yeah. Cross platform too. On the other hand, it's a full blown 3d modeling program. I haven't used Tinkercad, but I imagine its learning curve is a lot less steep than Blender's.
That's no real biggie, I'll figure out what I need to. One more question, can it export models as .stl files?
Yep, looks like that's one of the built in exporters.
We've been learning Blender to port Dawn of War models into Tabletop Simulator on Steam. The result is that you can use the tabletop 40k rules and play multiplayer over the Internet with anyone and you pay.. well.. nothing for the models, just the time you take to bring them in and tinker with them.
Here's an apocalypse battle showcase we made to show off our current model collection.
Basically you can bring in any models and use it as a tabletop piece, and you can import the maps from DoW also to use as tables.
But if you don't go down that avenue and just want to make ships, with Blender you can potentially make ships that could be converted into real VO ships. All the tools are there and the basic export formats will convert into geometry that the devs could hypothetically use as a new ships as well as the UV mesh and the textures which are even a lot simpler to deal with than a lot of the 40k models.
Yeah I've actually learned quite a bit about this recently. :)
