StarMade (voxels in SPACE)
http://star-made.org/
Fair warning: it's alpha, so it is a bit lacking in substance and polish. But it's a free cross-platform voxel-based space game, and good for at least a few hours of fun (more than a few in my case). It has both single- and multi-player support. The multi-player is minecraft-style, not vo-style, i.e. lots of different servers run by players.
Basically, you start off next to a shop with a little money and some basic resources. You buy any additional parts you need and build yourself a ship. Then you can go out and harvest more resources from asteroids, planets, and abandoned stations -- or you can hunt down pirates or pirate stations and loot those. You can sell the swag for credits to buy new parts (or in some cases, just use it directly) so you can upgrade/repair your ship, or build a new ship/station, etc.
It also has a manufacturing system so that you can take raw materials and craft gear directly. I haven't used that very much yet. Last night I set up a factory to produced hardened hulls, but from what I can tell the manufacturing isn't quite practical yet. At least for that particular item.

One of the regulars at work showed me this. Other than all the various types of block looking similar, I liked what I saw. I've yet to have a go myself though.
Faille.
Faille.
I watched a video of someone making a spaceship out of snow and guns. Seemed kinda neat, the planets are a little weird though. Half-domes with strange gravity.
Planets aren't the only thing that's a little weird...
minecraft in space ... noooo please tell me its not
Pretty cool, downloading it now.
I downloaded it and started playing. I've made an EC-88 (It sucks, like the 88 would) with some salvaging beams. Also, I created an EC-98 by filling the cargo bay with engines and shields and replacing the salvaging beams with anti matter cannons and missiles. I've got plans for a Vulture and a Centurion.
