Your English looks fine to me... Nobody really cares that much about capitalization, as long as the message is intelligable (your grammar is fine, your spelling is perfect, etc.). I think it's mostly people from the US and UK, with a few people from other nations (e.g. Renegade and LeathaL).

I haven't seen French spoken here in several months. There's quite a bit of Polish recently, but that's about it for "foreign" languages.

it French ya not badly, but the rule wants that one speaks
English... and it is not obvious...

we don't *want* you to speak english. it's just a decent thing to do, seeing that english is currently the language that make it easiest to communicate, and many who speak english do not know french or german or polish etc.
i usually ask nicely for the first time (sometimes also for a second time).
i was told to suck my own dick for asking a french person in a nice way (and in french, too) to take languages other than english to pm-- it really IS cluttering up the chat, and throws off my attention. yes, i am selfish.
if that behaviour of some community members (those who are unwilling to... you know) continues, see rant.

/start rant
maybe i will discontinue to make an effort in a nice way and instead just ignore them and not care about what they have to say, at the risk of being called arrogant and intolerant-- don't tell me about intolerance...
/end rant

and btw: i am swiss, and i don't talk german in the p- or tchat either (i once did and got told off by someone else, which is just).
i don't mind people talk a foreign language (i.e. not english) every now and then, or use it for fun (like me with japanese, most of you know and probably hate my binds). but if you do, please translate it as best you can if asked.

Dont worry, I understood what you wanted to say and that is of prime importance, the rest are just details, only try to understand the differences so that you learn from some of your mistakes ;).

And yes, I do know some tips and tricks to kill bots, even how to kill them in the free ship. Just look for Renegade ++RIP++ or any insas char, im sure they will be glad to help ;)

It seems rather ethnocentric (look it up if you have to, it's an excellent word) to expect players who want to speak a non-English language to either refrain or do so via /msg. That limits those players from having the same sort of fluid discussions in a group of 3 or more that the rest of us enjoy. If it bothers you (and it is pretty universal that people get bothered by other languages being spoken around them) then please do /ignore them.

actualy, people speaking other languages (especialy spanish) doesn't bother me. I just try to convey (in the language the other person is using) that the comunity is made up of mostly english speaking people. even with my limited spanish, i have managed to hold small conversations with fluent spanish speakers.

also, it helps improve my vocabulary, because if i dont know a word they say, i can ask what it means, then learn.

ethnocentric - eth·no·cen·trism - n.

1. Belief in the superiority of one's own ethnic group.
2. Overriding concern with race.

Forum mod,

So in your line of thinking this board is ethnocentric to, because it wont be appreciated if I started talking/writing dutch in here with my mates in an english thread.

If you are on a german server --> try to speak german, are you on a english server --> try to speak english, same for a french one, a dutch one and a japanese one, actuallt for all the languages.

If you arent able then ask around untill you find somebody who understands your language and have a private converse about the things you wanted to ask.

But for the rest try to follow the basic "rule" of speaking the language the community is speaking.

cheers

i agree with rene on that one (hey! something we agree on!).
i don't think it ethnocentric to ask people to please use the main (english) language when in chat. after all, english is not my first language.
also, i think "ethnocentric" does not apply here. it is untrue that english is the exclusive language of northern america, or england, new zealand, whatever.
international english is (today) the world's most prevalent language, and whoever uses a computer and surfs the internet will come in touch with that language and will have subsequently be required to understand it.
now don't get me wrong. i like diversification. i also know more than just two languages, and am planning to learn more. but it really IS cluttering up the chat.
besides, in real life, it is also considered rude when you talk a language different from the native one, just so people don't understand you.
