Anyone know...
how long it takes sugar to enter your system? i hear it's like 8 seconds or something, but i donno.
"Table sugar" (sucrose), glucose (or dextrose) and saccharose (a combination of glucose and fructose) cross the digestive barrier into the bloodstream within minutes following oral intake, and a partial absorption occurs in the mouth through the capillaries located under the tongue almost instantly. Exactly how many minutes depends on several factors ranging from what form the sugar is ingested in (liquids are faster), the type of sugar (simple sugars require less or no digestion), the amount of insulin available within the body, etc.
BRAIN OVER LOAD!!!!

I am employed by a hospital. It pays to know just how quickly one can revive somebody who is going into diabetic shock.
Which is why diabetics drink orange juice when they're deficient of glucose.
Or twinkies! :P FM, what exactly do you do? My dad's a radiation oncologist, and my mom used to be a nurse...
Twinkies may well suffocate your nearly unconcious patient, but you might be able to work something out with the "cream" filling.
I manage the Rehabilitation Department and am an Occupational Therapist.

Ah... Cool! I meant for the concious patients... :P
lol.. i posted this then forgot about it. I was asking cause i was considering ingesting a large amount of sugar becuase i felt tired. (rainy day, little sleep, ect..) and just wanted to know how long it would take the feel the effects.
Very quickly.
If you have insulin standing by just in case, sure... :P When I'm tired I just take a nice, long, hot shower... That usually wakes me up a bit...
i like sugar.. it's pure energy!
