Kotaku article on the art of not explaining everything
Heh, that's intelligent. I think iyt depends on the setting. In a post-apocalyptic wasteland with no basis of knowledge to draw from, I would assume that no explanations would be forthcoming for some of the events/artefacts, etc. that might crop-up in the game.
However, with Vendetta-Onoine taking place in a (somewhat) civilized galaxy, I would expect that there's a great deal of historical record on everything. execpt the parts that the Akanese erased from the Itani databanks of course...

True, of course. I was more or less commenting on the people demanding ZOMGRL explanations for gravitic drive technology and whatnot.
It just needs to be enough to get past the most basic level of "suspension of disbelief". Kinda like Star Trek, no one questions transporter technology - all they needed was a "Heisenberg Compensator."
