This made me chuckle.
theres a massive fraud in eve all the time
Hmm, this could be just about the only thing entertaining about EVE, being the observer to this drama called a game.
WTF doesn't BBC have anything better to do?
It's mass media, of course they don't.
24 hours is a lot of time to fill up. The mainstream media takes their stories where they can get them.
I don't know, i understand why the guy did it. If you could convert 200 billion Vendetta credits into $5,000 USD would you steal the credits if you could. I woud like to say I wouldn't but I'm glad I'm not in that situation.
If EVE just allowed people to trade isk (in world credits) for real money directly between players it would stop a lot of the isk/money laundering. There are people who would willingly pay $50 for 1billion isk. Why doesn't EVE just take a cut and go on with their life? Players do it anyway so why try to stop it?

VO WISHES they could have this kind of problem.
Correction: [TGFT] wishes that VO could have this kind of problem.
Jess they do let people buy isk for real cash (in a somewhat roundabout way), just not the other way around.
I know i play the game. You can but time cards yourself and sell those in game for isk. But why not make it a direct transfer cash for isk?
There are whole business set up to sell in game credits for real money. If EVE did it itself it might not stop all those companies but it would bankrupt some of them and EVE would take a cut. Unless EVE is making some money through those transactions. Hmmm
Is this something we risk if VO every gets bigger? If we had 30,000 players online at any one time I think there would be credit selling.

Maybe they don't like it, dunno. (Or maybe players wouldn't like it, i sure don't)
And i think every MMO with enough players has this issue, so yes VO would too. (At least assuming credits would matter)
