See title.

I like the Apple fonts: Georgia, Geneva and Monaco. I guess it stems from long use. Also, naming fonts after cities is pretty cool.

Computer Modern is probably my favorite serif font, for what should be obvious reasons.

Helvetica is a nice sans-serif, if a little over-used.

I'm also a fan of Didot; in fact, I use it as the default font for my browsers. Not one of the fancy Didots, though, just the stock OS X version.

Use the right font for the mission. There's literally thousands upon thousands of fonts. There's no "ONE TRUE FONT".

I've already chosen a font for Vendetta, Trebuchet!

I like Georgia as well, Tosh, but in large paragraphs and such it gets harder to read with all of its sub-numerals and typographic quirks.

Didot is a nice slab-serif font, similar to Bodoni.

I used to like Myriad a bunch, then Adobe ruined it by making it the default font in Illustrator.

I guess for body copy I still like Minion, which came out at the same time as Myriad as its serif "twin." Minion has all kind of extra characters and alternates in it. Well worth the $$.

I'm a Times New Roman guy all the way.

Agreed, LeberMac. Although, there are some fonts one should just not use, in my opinion.

I've already chosen a font for Vendetta, Trebuchet!

Trebuchet is the new Arial! And also the font of choice for the greater percentage of those sites that grab the misspelled domain names (ie. Gogl.com). Everytime I see it it makes me think I've misspelled the url I'm trying to get to.

But on topic:

ClancE is nice. But I think that's mostly because I had it forced on me and my client's brainwashing abilities are second to none.

Zapf Dingbats, but only for professional writing.

When I make figures, I put helvetica in it because it's a font that gnuplot likes and I like as well.

For text stuff, I use whatever default font LaTeX builds because, well, it knows better than I do.
(EDIT: I guess this would be Computer Modern Roman)

Also: LIGATURES FTW!

Eonis, you must now be SHOT.
No one is allowed to like Comic Sans. It's like being fond of Hitler or Pol Pot.

I thought he was joking, LeberMac.

Come to think of it, you might be, too.
Jun 24, 2009 LeberMac link
Knowing Eonis, he is almost certainly joking.

I, however, am not. Comic Sans is like "the flood" in Halo, no matter how you try to exterminate it, it KEEPS RAISING ITS UGLY HEAD!

Oh, yes, definitely. I meant the shooting part :)

Comic Sans is indeed a weird typeface. I wouldn't use it for comics, but it is the font of choice for most scanlations I know. They probably think it looks good, or perhaps they're just used to it from Marvel and DC.

Although I wouldn't know a font with which to replace it, not right off the bat.
