Science: Scientists Turn Tequila Into Diamonds
"Researchers, oddly enough from the National Autonomous University of Mexico, have found a way to make diamond films using tequila. They were originally testing methods of creating the films with organic solutions like acetone when it was noticed the ideal ratios of water and ethanol turned out to be about 80 proof, or 40% alcohol. '"To dissipate any doubts, one morning on the way to the lab I bought a pocket-size bottle of cheap white tequila and we did some tests," Apátiga said. "We were in doubt over whether the great amount of chemicals present in tequila, other than water and ethanol, would contaminate or obstruct the process, it turned out to be not so. The results were amazing, same as with the ethanol and water compound, we obtained almost spherical shaped diamonds of nanometric size. There is no doubt; tequila has the exact proportion of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen atoms necessary to form diamonds."'"

I think Leebs should leave his body to Guild Software when he dies. Lifetime funding! We'll walk on planets by the end of the month!

Sniped again. I'm like a minute behind tonight.
i oppose this having been moved to off-topic.
it's clearly for leebs. it's in-character. in his character's mouth to be exact.

"Leber in the sky with diamonds..."
I'd be interested if the manufacturing tolerance in tequila is bound to have has an effect on the efficiency of the process.
That, and what exactly the composition is, so that the effect could be achieved independently of tequila. I think the paper is lacking in research, not where the PLICVD process is concerned, but a sufficiently analytical mindset is definitely lacking, in my humble opinion.
Of course, the whole thing could still be a hoax.

What?? The National Autonomous University of Mexico doesn't inspire your confidence?!?
I am just shocked. Shocked.

1 tequila, 2 tequila, 3 tequila, floor.
Kanaka, dont send people on other foreign sites!
Ah, yes. Well... um, good! I'll get started on the diamonds right away.
Personally, I think the tequila would be more valuable, but... meh.

LeberMac, think of the 'samples' you'd have to take to ensure that only the right tequila is being used. And don't forget the tequila that is unfit for diamond production, it'd be a shame to have to send it back, right?
Oh... my... God...
TOSH YOU ARE A GENIUS!
TOSH YOU ARE A GENIUS!
Hilarious! Stop hiding, and start living! I love it.
Toimu - that's because that tequila ad has been posted on these forums at least 4 times in old LeberMac-related threads of some kind or 'nuther.
Yeah, that ad depicts my life.

LeberMac, I forgot to mention that this research is sketchy at least (I mean, come ON. It shouldn't be that hard to write correct english, even I manage at times, and especially for a scientific paper). So you could get on the programme, skim the, uh, 'research materials' and submerge unknown a few years later when the funds run out (and once the tequila production has been choked to death like Indian Motorcycle).
