Introversion Software (DEFCON, Darwinia and Multiwinia)

Not to worry, this isn't a competitor to Guild Software....just wondering if anyone out there is also a huge fan and can't wait for Multiwinia......if you know not what it is:

Rather a different game style

It's probably going to bomb.

Darwinia was bearable going through it once, but any intense gameplay leads to imminent game crashes.

The control scheme was my personal turn-off when it came to Darwinia.

Ick. Time for a fourth EV game, or a massive infusion of content for Uplink.

Hm. I very much liked Uplink, Defcon, and Darwinia, and I've already preordered Multiwinia. I guess I'm in the minority here, eh?

Eh, Defcon is sorta fun. But it can't hold a candle to Ambrosia's more immersive, single player games.

EVN > Defcon

How would you figure another EV sequel would fit into ASW's portfolio right now, Lecter? Not to mention that the realm of 2D space fighting is pretty boring as single-player when every game and their grandmother has multi-player.

Not that I would not play it.

I would pre-order multiwinia, but alas, the Mac version doesn't come with the boxed bundle, which I want very very much.

So, Multiwinia came out yesterday. And it is quite awesome.

That is all.

I wish I could play it. Still waiting for AmbrosiaSW to finish porting it....they're saying something around the end of october.....I'm not sure I can wait that long......

I'm not sure why they'd have to. Darwinia was native OS X and Linux, and from what I've heard from the dev team, Multiwinia is largely the same (i.e., still has OpenGL and DirectX engines, etc). I would be very surprised if Introversion had to contract out for a port.

Darwinia was ported by AmbrosiaSW and John Knottenbelt. As was DEFCON and currently Multiwinia. When DEFCON was ported, it took 7 months because of issues using Introversion's servers and multiplayer networking (Mac OS X, Linux and Windows just didn't want to play nice :-). However, porting Multiwinia they say will be far easier, for they can steal their own multiplayer networking from DEFCON.

I was so eager to play Multiwinia, that I played it through parallels on my MBP...it was just barely playable. 1-5 FPS....

It is an amazing game.....That Is All.

After the Linux port of Multiwinia is available, I will definitely go buy a copy!
I'm also a proud owner of the boxed version of Uplink, Darwinia and Defcon.
