Ion Storms
TO ANY AND ALL DEVS WHO MAY COME ACROSS THIS THREAD. "THE MORE I PLAY, THE MORE STORMS I COME ACROSS THE LESS I PLAN TO RESUBSCRIBE.” I'M NOT ASKING STORMS TO GO AWAY ALL TOGETHER, BUT THEY CAN BECOME FEWER AND FEWER OVER TIME (ONE WEEK OR SO) THEN LEVEL OFF TO ONLY A SINGLE STORM OR TWO AT A TIME. THIS WILL MAKE GAME PLAY MORE DESIRABLE. I DON’T’ KNOW OF ANY PLAYER ASKING FOR STORMS SO THIS IS SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT. I KNOW ONE SUBSCRIPTION ISN'T A GREAT AMOUNT, BUT ONE SHOULD BE ENOUGH. DROP ME A LINE WITH ANY COMMENTS. YOU HAVE MY E-MAIL ADDRESS ON FILE.

One: Lose the capslock. I know it's "cruise control for cool" and all, but even with cruise control you do have to steer...
Two: Why is this in the off-topic forum? This belongs in General.
Three: The only people who get this bothered by ion storms are those who can't seem to figure out how to hold down the shift key while making a navroute to plot a course *around* the asteroids. Try it -- it helps. Really. You're only going to hit an ion storm if your route takes you over a non-wormhole/station sector that has asteroids in it. Plot around. It takes all of a few seconds.

Ion storms are useful for:
*Losing pursuers
*Catching up to NPCs (they never go around)
*A very simple way to increase the challenge of combat
*Adding that unexpected break in the monotony of space
Your complaint is simply that you want to expend less effort to get around the universe. I am more concerned about gameplay than I am about some perceived injustice to your time. It takes far more time to engage in large scale trading or mining than to evade ion storms. Seeing as grinding to make money was my very least favorite aspect of every MMO I have played ever, I have to wonder how much more pissed you would have been at those games for wasting 'your' time.

I wouldn't argue with decreasing the number of storms so perhaps there are only a storm or two in a fourth/third of the sectors at once. I understand it seems to mesh with the backstory anyhow, so maybe changing them would screw things up. :-\

Wouldn't it be better if all that annoying spaceflight was completely removed from the game, and a simple "Increase my license levels and money" button was introduced in their place?
