GRID

oooh shiny... my return to VO just might be delayed another month. FINALLY a decent racing game for PC, and FINALLY a decent racing game with a realistic damage model! So long, GT....

Looks sweet. Might buy.

I'd like to see a space racing game, though. Obstacle course style, dodging asteroids and such.

After playing through the demo a bit, I've found that the game is, in fact, unplayable. The only controls for your car are as follows:
up arrow: accelerate
down arrow: deceleterate/reverse
right arrow: crank the wheel all the way right
left arrow: crank the wheel all the way left

The game is completely wasted potential with their beautiful graphics and damage model, but abysmal control scheme. Trying to drive a muscle car like that leaves you either going straight, or spinning donuts... no resemblance to control whatsoever. There is no mouse control, and it doesn't recognize any joysticks.

Since you can't actually *race* in this game, it quickly degenerates to finding the biggest straightaway and choreographing head-on collisions with the other racers, only to find out that you can't screenshot in the game. While momentarily fun, you can't make a game out of this.

Back to Burnout: Paradise City, then.

It worked with my sticks just fine Cunjo, but I agree. The car handling (at default settings) just does not feel right, and adding driving assists (like auto braking) makes the game too easy.

And ya, like that. Sort of.

I thought this thread was going to be about Gay Related Immune Disease, or, what they called AIDS before they called it AIDS. Back in 1982 or whatever. "And the band played on" , fascinating book / movie.

Alas, instead, it is some dumb racing game.
