If you figure it out, rather than spoiling it for other people, just list three numbers and their appropriate matches. I'll let you know if you're right.
1 -> 2
2 -> 5
3 -> 5
4 -> 4
5 -> 5
6 -> 6
7 -> 3
8 -> 7
1 -> 2
2 -> 5
3 -> 5
4 -> 4

6 -> 6
7 -> 3
8 -> 7
0 -> 6
9 -> 6
10 -> 8

10 -> 8
Let's see... could it have to do with the stops at the New York subway station?... No... *checks a whole bunch of logarithms*... I hate you... *graphs it*... well, that's... interesting... aaaaaand I'm stupid.
Dammit! If Miharu can get it, I should probably be able to find at least one clue to what it's about!
*checks again*
*turns head upside down*
*looks for mode, median, and the other 'm' math word*
Okay, I give up.

The secret is that there is no pattern, and we're all supposed to guess and feel dumb, and then surprise! It was all a joke.
There's a pattern; you might need to look elsewhere than your computer to find it. It's very likely that you have one or more of the thing(s) you might need to see the pattern somewhere in your house.
I thought that it was not an abstract series. Not that I figured out what it actually is, mind you...
how likely is it that we dont have one of theses things?
lol, not in -my- house...
noob -> 3445
noob -> 3445
nowadays bean? getting more likely...
Not to mention that different ones may yield different numbers, thanks to changing technology.

errr...cell phones?
now any hints as to where in my house this object could be?
and is it obvious or will I have to look carefully?
For me, the solution was staring me in the face -- what I needed to guess the pattern was sitting on my desk. I'd try looking around your room or the kitchen.
It won't be extremely obvious at first, but if you spend enough time thinking about it while looking around you should get it.

You've got a great one right there Shadoen, in fact the one that I used first.
Miharu, I get 9 as 5, but that's probably just our different sources. Looks like you've got it figured out.
Edit: Actually Shadoen, never mind. But one of yoru objects is kinda close to one you could use :)
